Murdoch to close News of The World - FT.com
How are all the slappers supposed to make a living now, selling their kiss-and-tell stories? |

'News International has refused to comment on rumours that The Sun could now become a seven-day-a-week operation.' As one Murdoch door closes, another one opens. |
re: News of the World Mobile Phone Hacking
The Chief Executive of News International, Rebekah Brooks, was in tears as she announced to staff that the News of the World is to close.
And Sky have just reported there is a "Lynch Mob" mentality amongst NOTW staff towards Brooks. And can you blame them? Many hard working, decent and honest people are going to lose their job in a cynical move to save her nasty little head. |
re: News of the World Mobile Phone Hacking
cynical sod that I am , can't help but wonder how much the closure of the NOTW has more to do with loss of revenue/profit than public outrage, we all know print readership is down and papers are losing money, The online editions of the Sun/NOTW/the Times , all Murdoch papers have been pay per view sites for the last few months , can't imagine many people paying good money to read stuff which you can get free from other sites. Being the 'businessman' he is I wouldn't put past Murdoch to use this "public lynching" as an excuse to get out of the money losing print media ;)

Can't speak historically, but certainly for the last thirty years this nasty little rag has profited from other peoples' misery, sleaze, and filth. I'm glad it's going. Though we all know Murdoch will bring it back, under another name, employing the same 'decent and honest people'. |

To any souvenier hunters, don't bother. Financially the last edition will be worthless. |

She's a ginger, from Stockport. Give her a break. Made me laugh that she claimed she was educated at the Sorbonne, which turned out to be a lie. It could have been that talent that gor her the job with Murdoch. |
