Re: Today in pictures

When I took the picture the sky looked quite light, but when I put the picture on the computer the sky looked a lot darker. The shot was taken just a few minutes after 10 pm.
The moon isn't full yet, so I only got a slice of it so to speak.

Ooh...I like those. Moody skies, subtle colours and reflections.
I love reflections

Today in Pictures, this time I will have my camera with me, Mill Lane to Martholme Lane, and possibly the viaduct. The last time I was there with Dianne we were able to walk towards the middle, and, had we had more time, could have gone to the other side.

1. A bee using an umbrella.
2. Its getting a bit too busy for me.
3. My droplet meter registered 6 on the meniscus scale, so it was easy to get droplets today.
4. Almost there, the view is Dean Clough to the left and The Nab to the right.
5. Bullocks, right everyone, sign the petition.
6. This is as close as I am likely to get for a while.
7. Now a selection of gates.
8. It never occurred to me to open it in the first place.
9. The undulating profile of Pendle Hill in the distance.
10.The bench dedicated to Adrian Shurmer.

This is all I have for today...and yes Frank....I did use a tripod:)

Nice shots with your new camera! Having tried a few moon shots myself, but with a telescope, I found it helps if the atmosphere has as little humidity as possible. And no clouds. And no wind. That's why hubby and I have given up, and our telescope sits collecting dust! Lousy weather in that way where we live. Now Arizona, that's would be the ticket :)

I've been a bit busy of late, and photo number one explains why. She's 9 weeks old, and I'm fill of bites and scratches! She does, however, enjoy my iPad and Accy Web.

The other pix were taken down by the ponds at the back of my place. It's the first time I've ventured down there in a long time, and I came back with a few mosquito bites for my trouble! I was hoping to find the turtles, so took my zoom lens. But there was nary a turtle in sight. Sigh.

Today in Pictures, an early start due to an extremely large curriculum.

1. Up the path to Platts Lodge.
2. A fern growing in a cast iron stanchion.
3. Waterside Apartments.
4. The old sluice gate that dumped water into Woodnook Water.
5. QUICK...... they are all blowing away....take a snap.
6. A bee getting a beak full diving into a dandelion.
7. An old factory chimney put to use with modern technology, they don't burn rubbish up it they talk through it now.
8. To the right the "factory bottoms" to the left the old line of the elevated railway section, and in the centre Woodnook Vale and Priestly Clough merged into one green corridor.

9. When I worked at Haworth Park this cog and most of the Ashton Frost engine was put close to the stables awaiting its restoration, and locating in town. As far as I am aware this is the only bit that survived, and made it to its re-location. Unless it is stored with the Arndale Clock ? An added twist, the building behind is now the Council Offices, and my Mother used to work here when it was a spinning mill, and I have memories of visiting there and can remember the noise it all made, and watching the weavers communicating with signs and lip reading.

10. Self explanatory.
