Think I read somewhere (possibly the Evening Telegraph) that they're arranging a friendly against Austin Aztecs (managed by Adrian Heath). They're also trying to arrange the Rovers friendly for October, rather than November.

It would be good if that Rovers game could be arranged for October but with the glut of league games this month it would be difficult to fit one in.

Accroding to this link, Aztecs will play Stoke on the 14th and Burnley on the 20th. Maybe they may switch the latter and play Stanley instead, although I suspect Adrian Heath may prefer to play Burnley for obvious reasons. Nothing has been confirmed by Burnley yet.

A further update from nearer to home. Stoke City's sister club apparently, if they play the same way you better point the floodlights a bit higher up or you won't see the ball :D

I understood that this matter was all but resolved, the SOS fund will be at least between £100k – £120k by the dead line; Rob as stated that three of them (Directors) will be putting in at least £120k between them and Mr. Khan as clearly stated publicly that he will double what the Directors put in (Single amount I presume) which will be £80k which by my reckoning comes to £300k. I’m sure someone will find the odd bit of short fall, job done Mr. O’Neil and the Club pull it off with Mr. Khan’s assistance…everybody should be happy.

Mr. O’Neil and the club gets the opportunity to prove their point, the club gains value which should mean that the Directors and individual share holders who put money in (including Mr. Khan) should have a chance of getting their money back long term, and the ASSF will have to reinvent a role for itself or carry on operations focused purely on fund raising.

And yet, if reports are to be believed, this £300+K will only just satisfy the demands of HMRC !....and do little to make any inroads whatsoever into the 'Total' Debt which, again if sources are accurate, may well be double this figure...or even more!!.

Therefore does it not seem logical to assume that if there is not a massive revenue input to clear the entire Debt, that the Club will merely stagger along from one emergency to the next, and risk incurring the wrath of The Dreaded Taxman on a regular basis ??..and everybody will certainly be far from happy....in fact I can not see 'Happiness' being the overriding emotion existing at 'The Crown' for a long time to come following the damage to reputations and Fan-Trust which we see, hear, and read about on a daily basis!.

If all this sounds a bit of a Jeremaic Lament, my comments are only based on an analysis of what I, and anyone else can read in the media, and unfortunately, on our Forum!!..

So I ask again...QUO VADIS STANLEY ??....Will someone please make an informed effort to answer this impassioned plea???

'WHAT ME WORRY ?'.....just a little !!

At some point we will have to have faith in that the club “irrespective of ownership” will prevail; Rob Hays tells us that there is only operational debt, day to day running cost, this may be bourn out by the fact that there is only the one (06th August 2009) CCJ recorded against the company which may well be the tax debt, (please confirm Rob)…if we had the massive debt put about by various parties i.e. £500-600k we would be inundated with CCJs’ would we not?

Undermining, casting doubt and divide and conquer are old techniques for getting your own way in inter rivalry conflicts like we are seeing now for control of the club….I feel (personal opinion) that if it was that bad that Mr. O’Neil would have taken the easiest route out and would have taken Mr. Khan’s hands off (both of them) in order to protect and preserve his other interests rather than be dragged down and loose everything….

I concur with that Doug !...But doesn't Peter Shaw's statement :-'The ASSF claim the club's debt is substantially more than the £308,000 which is owed to Revenue and Customs by 27 October.'.....not underline my point that the 'emergency' extends much further than the dreaded £308K, and therefore must be addressed with the clearance of other pressing debts an assured action ?.

AND..If this statement from Rob Heys is accurate :- "I think it would be great if we could find a way to keep the dialogue open and to find someway that everybody can come together.
"Whether that's by David O'Neil [Accrington chairman] perhaps relinquishing some of the control that he's got and maybe the supporter's fund taking that onboard. I think it's really important that we find a way."
..then it gives me some confidence to stop asking 'QUO VADIS STANLEY?'.

To hear such an enlightened declaration at this stage in the proceedings has
awakened a primeval stirring within me not known since I was introduced to the Ladies Underwear section of Gratton's Catalogue at the back of Form 2B !..

Someone once said...'Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.'...and he was right!!

Hopefully this thinking will lead to the beginning of a lasting solution to these wearing problems which are bringing our proud club to it's knees ?

I apologise if the little postscriberi which, as an indulgence I add now and again to my postings are causing you some concern Chimer...as in 'what the hell are you on about?'...

But with the little interjection 'Sostenuto Molto'...I was allowing myself to be influenced by my other alter-ego...AAMUZIK...who you don't want to know about!...It's simple translation is, as I'm sure you really know!...'Sustain the effort with vigour!'....or in Ossy terms 'Keep on gooin'!'. Which I feel certain you will agree, is apposite to the current task of ensuring salvation for our Club!.

My other Alter-ego ...Alfred.E....does, I agree make some rather odd declarations!...for which I cannot take any blame whatsoever!.

My hope is that even in the midst of what is really a crisis situation as far as Accrington Stanley go....here on our super-duper Forum at least, there is space for a little eccentricity and levity....although I honestly try to make a serious contribution to any thread which fires me up!.

After all....and here it comes just for you Chimer!...'Were all the roses in the Garden Red, then it would be a dull place indeed '...now who said that???

Touche !..MO.....if a little out of literary context!!.....I was just thinking that a little touch of Romantic Prose would perhaps brighten Chimer's evening up a bit!!..

Of course I recognise and applaud the link which you so eloquently make and can assure you that I have never found the task of supporting 'The Reds' as being dull...instead preferring to see it as the Soccer equivalent of Mr Toad's Wild Ride!!....as the status Quo does seem to bear witness to somewhat!!

It is my fervent hope that we will be seeing the colour Red together in all it's glory for a long time to come at 'The Crown '.....and not through my often mentioned Red-coloured Spectacles either!!

p.s....with RED in mind!....from Alfred.E...Roses are red ..Violets are blue..I'm schizophrenic....And so am I !!.

I mentioned this to the club (Martin) about this on friday, and Martin said because the donations aren't coming in as fast as earlier weeks the updates would be done every few days instead of daily and thats why the updated daily was removed from the site, The last one I received was Friday 01/10/08.

I thought this was an interest free loan for the running of the Club which probably HAS been used for the running of the Club. Ilyas has now said that the Club can keep the money, he didn't say to put it into the SOS

No problem Jeff; I had just assumed that because Mr. Khan had said keep it has a donation it would automatically go to raise the Funds accumulator, a good solid figure like that would have been a good morel booster…

That said anything going towards running the club can only be a great help.:)

I questioned the whole thing at the very start, a few people had a go at me so I joined in with the SOS and helped out and kept my opinions to myself.
It seems the more we know the less we know.
The one thing I will say - rob heys would not be a chief exec at any other club.
nice bloke - yes, chief exec - no.

I find it hard to beleive any decent business person would forecast/consider accrington stanley profitable.
This statement could be extended to nearly every other league 2 club (with the exception of Bradford) and a significant proportion of league 1 clubs.

as it's "at least 12 months" away we could all start saving again and for £250 (+VAT) buy a square yard each - preferably a square yard of Clayton End terrace in my case

pmsl. Leave it well alone I say and spend the money (that we haven't got) on a training ground.

We pay next to nowt on the rent of the ground and its on a massive lease so where's the necessity. What's tangible assets and what influence do they have on investment? collateral?

Who has failed the club? In this respect I must support D'oN for taking on the task and asking for help from the supporters and surrounding football clubs etc. He took over this burden from the previous regime and although he did it eyes wide open, the club board initially thought they had an arrangement with HMRC to pay back the debt at £18k a month over 12 months. HMRC reneged on that deal and said we had till end of this month to find all the money. Dave O'Neill may have been a little naive when in all truthfulness he knew what he was getting into when he allegedly bought out EW.

Can't help thinking that this save the Stanley will be having a lot of effect on the true supporters, Home league last Saturday, home to Rovers Tuesday,Home again tonight another friendly, then home again in the league on Saturday again, must be costing you lads and lasses a small fortune, what with ticket money travel then of course the refreshments, must be costing a mint
