This could kick-start Accrington's night life on a Saturday night before 11pm.

Normally the town would be dead on a Saturday night.

Excuse me for being a bit thick Phil (its 25 years since I had a drink in accy town centre) but which establishment is Spoons

I'll give Wetherspoons credit for marketing ... the pub will very rarely be referred to as The Commercial .. most people will always refer to it as 'Wetherspoons'.

Went in on Saturday afternoon with a fellow councillor and we were very impressed with everything, from the decor to the choice of ales on offer. The beer garden is also very well renovated and it is impossible to forget that you are in a Lancashire town surrounded by the brickwork of back alleyways and other shops.

Top marks, general consensus is that it's a very very good thing and from what I saw I heartily agree.

Kronenbourg is 20p more than the Queens. Coke is expensive at £1.60 a half pint but pay another 20p and you get a full pint.
Four of us went in for a meal at Monday lunchtime. Four meals (one was a starter), one Kronenbourg, two grapefruit and soda and a large coke. The food was quite good and the total cost was pence over £16. Not bad as far as we were concerned. Also noticed plenty of choice on local draft
beers.
The place was pretty full and that was after 1.00 pm.
