Re: Wetherspoons

I was in there around half past 2 today. They have done a really good job of the building.

I'm going in tomorrow night for a few beers with the Mrs.

Re: Wetherspoons

Please, please, please can someone tell me what is the internal decor:

a) Lighting

b) Tables (wood type, colour, style, whether numbered or not) & chairs

c) Internal divisions

d) Carpet - colour and pattern

e) Bar - colour, style and pump lay out

f) If anyone got to see the 'kitchens', the numbers and layout of the microwaves and deep fat fryers.

I need to know no more. It simply confirms what I knew all along...a plastic bar, one more in their grubby chain and no different than Macdonalds other than in the refreshments on offer. Yuk!

Re: Wetherspoons

yep the astro turf is tacky, in fairness though it beats the crap outa standing at pub doors in the cold n rain to have a fag. though i shan't be repeating at that price fer a sodding coke.

It sounds like an absolute nightmare, Cashy.

You have my deepest sympathies.

Actually, I think you deserve a medal for your ordeal. I do believe there is a spare one going round t'town hall.

Wetherspoons

Just got back from the new Wetherspoons. As the saying goes; you've seen one, you've seen them all.

That said, the interior looks a lot better for what they've done. Much bigger and ten times better in terms of decor.

Also, some nice pictures around - more than a few featuring local historic info and imagery that I'd never seen before. So interesting from that point of view. Nice use of Ewbank adverts and old photographs - I'd love to know where they got them from.

Anyway, can someone please describe in more detail the decor in there?

Why on earth would you want to know after speaking of the chain is such contemptuous tones?
I thought the place held no interest for you.(You want to know a lot for someone who professes to dislike the chain).

Sat in there now, just paid £1.99 for a breakfast deal which is a coffee and a bacon roll.....bargain...you can either have bacon roll, or sausage or fried egg, porridge, teacakes or fresh fruit and yoghurt, with either coffee, tea or juice

I had a full English breakfast with a friend on Sunday at the one in Preston and we were stuffed for a tenner.

Decent grub and no washing up, it works for me every time after a heavy night out!
