Nothing to do with advertising, a simple cost comparison of my own weekly shop revealed the facts.

You're right about quality though, why on Earth hasn't Waitrose opened a store in Accrington?

They must have no idea about what people really want.

I've been in today. The inside is beautiful, they've done a superb job on it. Most of the art work is Accrington related. The beer garden is lovely too. Food was good. The only problem was that they got the food order wrong, but were very good about it (didn't want to complain too much as today was ticket only and everything was free!) but these sorts of teething problems are to be expected while the staff get used to things.
And a decent set of toilets in an Accy pub..... thats rare!! The toilets are upstairs but they have disabled ones downstairs.

Overall a very good pub.

They've got pictures of people from Accrington who've done well in various fields. Jon Anderson has his picture on the wall. Joseph Briggs, with the Tiffany glass connection. There's also recognition of various industries to Accrington, things like that.

That's the problem today, Cashy - people have no principles.

I don't mind people selling out for a pound of flesh - but selling out for a free pint, a dodgy plate of chips and a few piccys of local celebs plastered on the wall?

Is there nowt sacred?

So they must have been desperate.

It's downhill from here on.

Not the way I see it but you are entitled to your own opinion. Maybe the building should have been left to rot like the Con Club, Cannon Street Baptist Church and many more buildings in our town. Or maybe they should all be demolished to make way for even more Tesco express stores:rolleyes:. Any Wetherspoons that I have visited has always been very busy selling food and guess what we all know it isn't going to be up to "gourmet" standards but "cheap and cheerful" will suffice for most of us when nipping out with friends at lunch time. ;)
