Some members try to 'amuse' when they are in fact using 'directed ridicule'.

If Accyweb's such a terrible, cliqueish place, where newcomers are routinely subjected to unpleasant initiation rites, how come we get new members joining - and staying - on a regular basis? Also, Anne said in her introduction that she had visited the site regularly so she must have been aware of this forum's many quirks - the thread wanders, the "fly comments" as she described them, the mickey taking, the raging arguments that don't need to be taken on a personal level. So, why start getting upset when you've joined the forum?

Oh Lordy.

The beginings of another whacko conspiracy theory.

I can think of plenty of new members who've joined Accy Web, all of whom have been free to share their views, but did so without using inflammatory language.

They're happily still here. Not having spat their dummies out, because they are made of stronger mettle.

When I joined this forum no one wrapped me up in cotton wool.

I happily rattled off my thoughts in various threads.

When people disagreed with me, or questioned why I'd written what I had, I quite simply gave an explanation in reply.

It seems some people just enjoy wallowing in a state of paranoid and persecuted martyrdom.

That's their decision.

No one is forced to publicly share their views here.

It's very simple to stop playing the victim, and moaning about it.

Stop posting, and get your deluded kicks by self-flagellation instead, in the comfort of your own home.

Well to me a new member does go down to well using terms like riff raff when referring to local people no matter if there is truth in it, there's is probably nobody better at fighting their corner than your good self, but I'm sure even you wouldn't have made that mistake when you first joined our happy throng:rolleyes::D

Spot on Wyn, hell if I'd have taken everything to heart I'd be a very unhappy bunny everyday I log on to AW. I remember another new member who got some real stick (from all sides) when he first joined, now he's one of our regulars who knows the score and joins in the day to day banter and from all accounts really enjoys the Accyweb experience, and lets be fair this site does have something, no matter what some people say, that other similar sites would just love to have and I'm talking about towns with a lot more residents and Accy

If YOU'D taken all the stick that's directed at you to heart, you'd be in a permanent state of depression by now! Same goes for your good friends, C'mon and Mancie. ;)

Quirky...eccentric...whimsical...leftfield...Accyw eb is certainly one on its own and all the better for it! I've had a mooch round a few other local sites and they're all very pleasant, but so boringly logical and conventional, to my way of thinking anyway. And it shows...compare our member count, frequency of posting, number of threads etc to other forums from bigger towns. In fact, we even have to send a few of our members out on loan to try and liven 'em up! :D
