It is about seeing things with a new eye.....you can have two pictures which are essentially the same...and yet their impact is changed.......by adding colour then removing some of it.

Thank you Margaret - I'm amazed I managed to colour it in so accurately - my hands are very shaky today from the steroids - couldn't hold the camera still earlier. Should be OK tomorrow - finished the course now for this fortnight.

The secret is to use the different size brushes....and zoom in for the fiddly bits........better still colourise first and then take it back to Gray Scale with the brushes....still I suppose that is what you did anyway.
It is very effective.
My daughter is in the Isle of Man for a wedding........I have asked her to get me pictures of the Bride and Groom....and the cushion with the wedding rings on...and the Bride and Grooms' hands with the new rings....I am going to employ this technique on those pics and then e-mail them back....for their album....I know that not many couples have an album these days, but this couple are having one.
I'm just sorry I'm not their to be taking pics as well......Miss BD is a bridesmaid.

Yes - you taught me that technique a couple of weeks ago... a good teacher and I learn fast!

Shame you can't be at the wedding to take some nice pics - bet Marnie makes a lovely bridesmaid.

I bet she makes a better Madam.......I can see her being Queen bee tomorrow...telling her Mum how she wants things...what she will wear and what she won't.(for the evening reception that is - she is quite taken with her satin bridesmaid dress.......spaghetti straps and a shrug in case it gets a bit chilly in church.
Spindles has a proper grown up suit, long trousers, a waistcoat and a silver grey tie.......and lovely shiny black shoes.
I wish I could be a fly on the wall.

Not much happened today apart from my sister getting married at Saltaire mill.
Most guest arrived by vintage bus as that was the theme of the wedding.

I got fed up of taking photos of people in clothes from the 40's and 50's, there were about 60 there. I decided to try to be a bit artistic so took some chandeliers from underneath. Then one of the big room where my sister and her husbands band were going to play when we had the champagne toast.
Finally my sister and hew new husband. They teach the old time jive dance as well as having the band.

Lovely Gremlin and a nice change of scene. Looks they had a good time.

I like Saltaire but never been there with my camera.

If that's not much...then I wish 'not much' would happen to me too.
I love your slant on the chandeliers, I like the round lamp in the second from last picture.
Good wishes to the Bride and Groom...they look like a pair of toffs...or 'bobby dazzlers' as my gran used to say.

A few shots along the canal on Hebden Bridge (note sunflowers in shot 4!).

The church in Heptonstall is really eerie - bright blue sky above but still looks spooky, dark and menacing.

Then some views back to Hebden Bridge from Heptonstall and other views which I have chosen for the skies.

Last few pictures from my Lancaster visit on Monday. These are all taken inside the old mill complex opposite the hospital.

1 This reminds me of a French chateau
2 Tree, shadows and bright blue bicycle - for Mrs P.
3 No we don't have a new Pope, nor is the building on fire - it's just a cloud...
4 And another one, over the old warehouses along the canal
5 Can't get away from parked cars
6 Ventilator on top of old building
7 The top of the Town Hall clock peeking cheekily above the warehouses

Yes, Sue...number two pic does it for me......it reminds me of a French Chateau too.
I would have to fiddle with that...not in the colour sense....but to maximise the bike.......I would crop it so that only the tree trunk and the bike were in the picture....you would still have the shadows of the tree so it would be there in essence.
It would be the same photo, but totally different.

You haven't seen what I've removed already - it was surrounded by cars...

The 3-D thread mirrors perfectly the other one -very strange indeed -could be the subject of a quiz. Guess what this is...the winner giving the most original answer!
To me it could be the double helix unravelling -the end of life as we know it;)

Have you tried the crystallised effect - I like this one...

Re: Today in pictures

I have tried it, but I haven't really found anything that lends itself effectively...though your pic does....very well.

I must look a bit harder to find something which fits it.
