Lovely varied and colourful selection yours though -less rustic than mine! It's amazing how you can think of a theme and make a collection ... |

Just a coincidence that we should both hit on doors today! Yours are great BTW - such lovely old buildings... and you can actually see a cow in one of them! |

I am starting to get hooked on this macro photography since I got the new lens.
Two more pictures to make up my quota for today. By the way Margaret I like the Llandudno photos, the ARP poster reminds me of the time I was in it. I was only about 4 years old and the ARP chaps let me be an honorable member, they had a room above the Walsden Co op butchers (near Square road) and they used to stand me on a buffet to play darts. We never got any action because the enemy stayed well away. |

I agree mobertol, when you enlarge the photo you can see it's hairy back and just how ugly the face part is.
I don't know the names of many insects and don't usually bother about them but seeing as the lens cost a fair amount of money I want to be able to use it. |

Today in Pictures, a walk that is more or less level today.
1. Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly, this butterfly landed at my feet just after we set off, so just had to take his photo. 2. Came across a large patch of Globe Thistles just over the swing bridge at Church, there are usually scramble bikes ripping this bit up, but today it was deserted. 3. Bee on a Globe Thistle. 4. Its a Cramp Ball fungi. 5. Walking along Hyndburn Brook Toward Rishton Dip. For some reason the brook today had a bit of a pong. 6. Round the bend towards the old factory. 7. This amount of gravel wasn't here the last time I walked this way. 8. Wheres the Weir? were, there, Oh! 9. You have to look close, but, this is an infestation of black Aphids on Balsam being farmed by ants. There is a maggot at the top, but haven't a clue as to his reason for being there. 10. This is growing 3 feet from the main road, I think its a Bolete mushroom. |
Re: Today in pictures
Never realised tortoiseshell butterflies were so furry till Gremlin and Dave posted their pics today. Aren't they beautiful?
