Today in Pictures, a bit later than normal, they have only just released me.

1. A wet bit of Woodnook Water, just before it passes the old "Highams" site.
2. and off we go up-stream.
3. I don't think they have been used for a while.
4. Back on a flat bit, going under an overhead bit.
5. Time to form an opinion.
6. I was over there a few weeks ago, now I'm over here looking over there.
7. Back on the bit with very little footpath.
8. You can just see Shoe Mill in the distance.
9. Ta. Da. Shoe Mill.
10. Standing on the bridge, waiting for my ship to come in.

Nice Ones Dave. Did you walk up the old railway track?

I started off on the track (Woodnook Vale) then scrambled down into the Clough, walked up-stream for a bit, then scrambled back up onto the track for a bit, then took a gate on the left that leads down to Shoe Mill, that bit was a bit hairy as it was covered in slippery leaves and the path in some places was iffy to say the least. Then mooched my way up to Five Arches, came off there and then back down all the way on the track. I'd parked on the car park just down from Scaitcliffe House, and it was going dark by the time I got to the car.

Its a good walk, either from Nuttall Street up-wards, or going down Hill Street at Baxenden and turning left towards the reservoirs. The good thing is its a tarmac path so clean going, well sort of.

New here, just signed up today, and I have been informed that I have to pass a number of tests first :D

So as a keen photographer (have to have some interests as I don't do football :p) I guess this is a thread I will feel at home in.

Here are a few shots taken today capturing the lovely autumn colours, just before the thunder and hail storm later in the afternoon. Taken from my front door, as I definitely wasn't going to venture out in the pending storm.

Re: Today in pictures

I never edit any of my photos, they are straight from the camera and hopefully a true reflection of the scenes I have photographed.
Saying that I have noticed that some photos posted here look to have been enhanced and don't look natural. What I what like to do is have a go at editing my photos and altering the colours etc and wonder what editing software you use.
I have Coral paintshop Pro X and Nikon software which came with the camera. Up to now I have never used them but maybe I could experiment and see how I get on.
I have been an amatuer photographer for thirty years and buy a photo magazine from time to time. It seems more and more the articles are all about enhancing photos and not showing the real thing. It is time I moved on and had a go for my self.

It wasent quite sunset as the sun was still above the horizon, so had to adjust the camera to cope with looking into a watery sun, but thanks.

These are great shots Dave, well done. I have to say I like looking at the photos you take, because although I have lived here for nearly 12 years now, there are still many places I don't know of and I am learning about the area through your photos.

Thanks for sharing them with us.

Cheers

Dawn :)
