Great, Kes - those feet look like they belong to a different bird altogether but I guess they help when in the water. They seem to be webbed along the side of each toe rather than across all the toes like a duck would have.

Yep evolution is a strange thing - I can't see god creating a coot! When you pick them up they are like balsa wood, very light, compared to chickens.;)

Yes Dave -on the Bologna one I posted you can see more of those panoramic views in other parts of the town -click Bologna and there are a choice of 6 and you can put it in English! If you just go to Italyguides.it there are places all over Italy and Sicily you can visit and it's all in English too -with maps and the panoramic views and loads of other info. It's a great site for escaping to once in a while. I'm sure Sue could re-visit some of the places she's been and you can get a real feel for places. :)

More shots around Bologna!
The first four are in Piazza Maggiore early morning after the big festival. Then a couple to show how many people were there on the day of the festival -it was jam-packed all day long and all night for the fireworks and concert too. The set of bells were rung at intervals all day long -they are very unusual hand-bells and very loud! There's a view of a typical side street with loads of mopeds which are parked everywhere.

Two unusual shots with reflections of the buildings of Piazza Maggiore -inside the frames are the photographs, names and dates of the 2000 partisans who died defending Bologna in WW2.

I found the panoramics and had a brief look at some, Rome was first, will give it a walloping when I have a bit more time to look properly

Ha I love that cute coot Dave with the matching feet - all in black and white.

He (or she) was used to people, so didn't scuttle off, and taking a snap was easy.

I've been raiding the archive - here's a few from up North! :D

These were taken with a 35mm film camera not digital.

Lovely pics Dianne......what a wealth of photographic opportunity there is.

The cherubs in 7&9 look most dischuffed...do you think that God cancelled their day off on the day they posed for these? Or took away their toffee ration perhaps? (do cherubs get a toffee ration?).....ignore me, I am being whimsical.

Thanks Margaret -it was a photographers paradise -I kept running out of batteries. The Cherubs were taken with a friend in mind, he appreciated them!

Lovely locations, you can feel the granite and mosaics, and the coolness coming off them.
