Dave it's amazing the sheer variety of fungi you find. Looks like a good year for them, must be all the rain.

Don't rule out the fungi detector, with new batteries. The ones posted were only a small selection of the ones I found due to posting restrictions, some I've never come across before, but will have to post those on flickr, eventually. I am about 5 days behind with those postings, so the word eventually is a bit elastic.

To say its a good year for fungapuses does not do it justice, I have not come across the vast number of carpets of the stuff before. I never set of to be fungiman, but it appears to have taken over, I am starting to notice the almost microscopic stuff now.

Today in Pictures, slightly different posting today, didn't expect to see anything today, as it was persistently precipitating, and it was a short walk as town beckoned. However on the short walk between the Ash Pad and Blackburn Road, through the Petre Industrial estate, these were all over the place, so without numbers, the fungarama.

Dave I reckon they wait for you coming, then spring up! And I see from pic 4 you've got Bob trained to sit and wait for you to get your shot!

The area I was walking through has a regular mowing regime, so was surprised at the different types springing up.
Yes, when I stop to have a mooch, he assumes the position without prompting, it must be the persistent regularity that it happens, plus its the embarrassment that he gets when I am on my hands and knees.

You can tell em by the nipple on the top - if you'll pardon the expression.

Ok I just wonder out of interest if you come across any, they like garden lawns and sports fields, open fields often with sheep or horses. Don't pick any it's illegal. They do have a nipple on the top, they are very distinctive once you know what your looking for.

I sort of, have seen them, when I worked in Haworth Park, the pitch and Put course was covered in these mushrooms that a lot of students used to come and pick them, now I know why.
