Today in Pictures, on a day you wouldn't put a dog out, I took a dog out.

1. After a tramp around for a few "signs of life" I ended up down Lower Barnes Street.
2. Dancing around in the woods I came across the small fungi ( I think ) it was dark due to the day, so its not the best shot.
3. These could do with a wash.
4. Last one before heading up the hill.
5. Rain on a slate roof on a wet Sunday afternoon.
6. A quick look up a back passage.
7. I went back through the park, so checked these out to see how they mature.
8. I went all giddy with this one in All Saints Church, its a giant polypore.
9. There were three huge ones, and a small one. You get a few droplets for the same price.
10. Along the canal and back home for a dog biscuit, and Bob will have one as well.

Really it is a lamp outside the lodge we rented at Pine lakes.

If you had drawn on a few aliens and a spaceship, I would have believed it.

If I remember rightly that lamp was one of the things that contributed to the "ghosts" we were discussing in Gremlin's pics a couple a weeks ago before the discussion was deleted...

Your camera seems to like the wet even if you don't... those are cracking shots. I love the slate roofs, quite a collection of them!

Did anyone explain why the deletion occurred, I think it is very unfair on ghosts, it could even be described as racist, even ghostaphobic, or perhaps the Mod was just scared of ghosts. I suppose we should watch this post to see if it gets the chop, or spirited away

Yes I wondered whether to post in case it was tempting fate...

I've just asked my spirit guide, and he says it's OK.

Good... the only spirit guide I've got is in the bottom of a whisky glass telling me to put more in...

Today in Pictures, sort of a ricochet walk.

1. After looking for the last two "signs of life" plaques and finding them missing, I found myself at the bottom of Lower Barnes Street, so I shot in the woods to take a couple of photos that failed me yesterday. A set of Variable Oysterling Fungi.
2. Followed by a Candlesnuff Fungus.
3. Setting off to Gt Harwood over the footpath I found a Jelly Ear Fungi.
4.Looking across the fields I wondered if I should retreat, but didn't.
5.Finding myself in Tottleworth, this is looking over to Hapton Quarry.
6. Looking toward Rishton.
7. Then looking at the turbines.
8. Before leaving Tottleworth, this is looking over the Rishton Dip toward Hameldon.
9.Looking toward the trees that follow Hyndburn Brook in the dip.
10. Looking over the gate into Dunkenhalgh Land.

Some nice work - on the ones previously as well of views over from Hambledon Woods by Dave Mac - do you ever see any buzzards over there?

No buzzards, but plenty of what I think are kestrels, they hover before dropping on prey.

Yes they are kestrels - I have seen a buzzard in that valley below Windy Harbour - the farmer there used to be a nut and would come out in his jeep if he saw you tresspass and chase you off his land. I think the farm may now be residential flats?

Today in Pictures, a busy day, but managed a yomp in the middle.

1. final burst of flowers before the frost arrives, just over the swing bridge at Church.
2. These Candlesnuff Fungi are everywhere at the moment, small and easily missed.
3. Fungi, but with a slug creeping up.
4. I know, they are bricks, but I think old bricks?
5. This looks like a slime mould just bursting from under the bark of a dead tree.
6. Moo Cows, close to Hyndburn Brook on the path that heads to Rishton Dip.
7. Hyndburn Brook looking towards the motorway.
8. I wondered were the weir was, well you would wouldn't you.
9. Looking back on the path travelled before emerging at Rishton Dip.
10. Taken from the main road looking into the Dunkenhalgh land.

Again some good photos - but I'm still waiting for one of a buzzard they are big enough to get a decent photo of! :D
