1. Along the canal, you can see the gasometer, upper centre, in Gt. Harwood.
2. The destination, what was once a workers community, my guess would be weavers before the industry was centralised.
3. Just around the bend is a small boatyard, but we are going sharp right.
4. Little remains after progress swept them into history.
5. If you listen carefully you can hear the sound of clogs on floorboards.
6. This region is peppered with these small hamlets that are disintegrating.
7. Today we will go through the square window.
8. Time is almost up.
9. Last shot of these buildings.
10. I bet once someone would have been very house-proud here.

Beautiful shots davemac.

Did you get any snow last night Eric? Not much here, but enough to bring a chill to my bones.

I guess it was snowing down by the lake ... but none stuck around ... and someone told me out in the Township towards Odessa. Don't usually mind it all that much; I lived in Saskatchewan for 18 years and saw snow every month of the year.:D But last year was brudal. I found it worse than the great ice storm of '98. Last year was in-your-face stuff that just wouldn't quit.

Agreed - last year was tough.

Spectacular shots - especially the deer!

Thanks Turtle, we do seem to disturb the local Roe Deer a lot. I`ve heard of Fallow Deer in Rishton but not seen them yet, will keep looking though.

Today in Pictures is another of those yesterdays pictures today.

1. Brown leaves.
2. More brown leaves, this is the gate we just came through.
3. And just for good measure even more brown leaves.
4. The reservoir that everyone visits.
5. There are usually herds of ducks, but not so many if you don't have bread.
6. The theoretical boundary to Foxhill Bank.
7. A scramble through the brush for a bottom end view of the wet bit.
8. Steps up to the area that looks down on the rest of the area.
9. The wet bit is off to the left and down a steep slope.
10. And finally back to the gate we came through, and back to the car.

Today I managed a brief walk along the canal bank.
Here are some of the pics I took.
1) the cygnets are almost swans now
2) this feels a bit like a mug shot.
3)) I took a picture of this during the summer.....trees in full leaf....now they are almost bare...still a good picture! (well, I like it)
4) posing for me
5) here's lookin' at you kid.
6) berries.
7) going round the bend
8) there was a bird perched here just a second ago.
9) Looking out to the misty hills.
10) duck.

Today in Pictures, a badly scarred section of the planet, but it did support the industrial revolution.

1. Old workings, just off Clough Head car park.
2. Jamestone Quarry, still an active quarry, but not with the same fury that was present in the late 1700's.
3. One of the buildings that litter what was once a busy cart track.
4. The cart track as it is today, once the main road of the past.
5. Along with crumbling buildings, there are miles of stone walls slowly adopting a horizontal position.
6. Stone walls overlooking the quarry that excavated the materials.
7. Despite the harsh environment the area is littered with fungi.
8. Looks like I'm gonna need a bigger coat, Pendle in the distance.
9. Part of the expanse that is Ossy Moors.
10. Heading back to the car park, Grane Road passes between the first plot of trees and the rest.
