Well it is very effective.
I didn't know it would do that....you learn something new every day.
Sometimes if you are lucky, you can learn more than one thing a day :)

See, I knew you would know what it was. A fount of horticultural knowledge....that's what you are Dave.

Yes, my wife calls me a fount as well, every plant flowers in some form, there are one or two exceptions such as ferns which reproduce using spores.

Today in Pictures, yet another example of time travel, these are yesterdays.

1. Starting on Martholme Lane, and for the most part pointing my camera in the same direction.
2. You can see the BT mast on Pendleton Moor.
3. We made it onto the railway line for a brief period.
4. I think you are barking up the wrong.......err.
5. I have stood here before recently, this shot maps the colour change from the last time.
6. As I stand here I am reminded of a song relating to the Archies...........Sugar sugar.
7. The clouds are threatening to cover up the blue sky, but never quite manage it.
8. Its a gate..........again.
9. Last shot of Pendleton Moor.
10.Oh go on then, one more of the moor, and again another gate.

Today in Pictures, a walk in the woods, Warwick Avenue to Bell Lane.

1. The woods in question.
2. A bit of a stream runs along the edge, it makes a change to see it without trolleys and mattresses, could be it was fenced off to put in the water pipe upgrade.
3. You have to be careful of a bear behind.
4. If a bear falls down in the middle of the woods and there is no one around, does it make a noise.
5. Underneath the Maple tree.
6. Its really brown down here.
7. Why do they call the woods, The Woods, could it be all the wood, well it would be wouldn't it.
8. A day at the Beech.
9. Up close with the colours.
10. Right, time to head back, .......err...... is it left or right?

Some autumn fruits, flowers and fungi from recent walks nearby. Bucketing down today which has ended a lovely spell of mild sunny weather unfortunately.

Sure did, there was four of them, but the others were a bit battered.

Today in Pictures, it was horizontal rain, its speed increased by high winds, and visibility was pathetic for clarity, it was also too bad to put a dog out, so I took a dog out.

1. Starting at Jackhouse Reservoir I thought I would give the newly installed paths a try.
2. The recently built overflow, the other washed away.
3. Before I join the paths my usual mooch around the wet stuff.
4. Found it.
5. You wouldn't think it was raining from these photos.
6. One of the few other streams that feed the main one.
7. Heading back down through the woods to find the paths that are installed on the right hand side of the reservoir.
8. Walking on the paths it takes you through an area that was difficult to walk through due to it being overgrown with Brambles and other dense foliage.
9. Now a cleaner walk.
10. I found a baby one that the slugs hadn't found yet.

The people who have installed these new paths have made Jackhouse more accessible, and also a cleaner walk through the muddier seasons, well done for that, if you haven't been before, give it a try now.
