Yesterday in Pictures, fossicking around the Coppice.
1. This hill gets steeper as I get older, so we are going off to the right. 2. Were gonna need a bigger coat. 3. The needles of the Larch are now yellow and falling to the floor. 4. The third reservoir down from the top, looking toward Moleside. 5. This is the fourth reservoir, from here it fed into Plantation Mill. 6. It now flows away from the area without having powered a thing. 7. Accy in the distance. 8. One of the newer paths that traverse the slopes. 9. This path has been here for a while, just a new surface. 10. This once hard to find red jobbie (Amanita muscaria) now peppers the slopes of the Coppice, I found 5 different clumps without much fossicking, I can only guess that all the recent activity around the area has proved beneficial to this variety. |
Re: Today in pictures

Still playing catch up, another batch from yesterday.
1. Starting at Altham Lane and heading along the canal. 2. Despite the low temperatures during the night flowers are still giving it one last push. 3. Not sure if this is a boat yard or just a selection of moorings, but there is a woman to the left of the lifeboat sweeping leaves up, I just thought King Canute. 4. Still on the waters edge looking across to Pendle Hill. 5. Another lost community, this is a set of buildings with a wall all the way around, and a road also walled that goes up to the canal. 6. Two buildings that look to have its own gate posts. 7. This is the perimeter wall, the buildings look to be either side of a storage area, it doesn't look big enough to be a barn. 8. The view must have been spectacular as those trees either wouldn't be there or not as tall as they are now. 9. The other side of the wall that was along the edge of the road. 10. Finally, time to head back, the white building in the first shot is also in the last. |
Re: Today in pictures
The white building is usually where we start and finish our canal walk.
