From my visit to Crawford Lake a few days ago:
1. Recreated 15th century First Nations village. Archeologists discovered there had been up to 5 longhouses here, and 250 - 350 people. 2. Entrance through the palisades. 3. House of the Turtle Clan! 4 and 5. Inside (complete with modern day exit sign) 6. Cosy sleeping platform - no privacy in this house! 7 and 8. A complete surprise: inside one of the longhouses was this newly built presentation centre. 9. How could I resist?:p |

Last Monday the 'Ladies Who Don't Walk Anymore' became the 'Ladies Who Do Walk, Occasionally.' Some of us are getting up there in age, and while we used to enjoy good long walks in years gone by, arthritis, bursitis and all manner of ills have taken their toll for some of us. Usually we just get together for tea and coffee for each birthday that comes along throughout the year. Lately we've been moved to do more than that, and actually walk together again - at least until the ice and snow arrive.
It was a chilly, crisp morning, about 3 degrees when we set off, but clear and sunny. Here's a photo diary of our hour long walk. |
