Just go through this ritual every day:
Stand in front of a mirror and say "I am a TIGER, grrr" a few times then do the quiz....it works for me!!!

With continued play you do get used to how the questions are asked.

USED to play league at rochdale and leigh , played for lancs myself all the way to under 21 level and England schoolboys and under 19s overall about a twenty five year stint at getting battered and bruised every weekend and i loved every minute happy days:D Tell him to keep at it its a brilliant way to make lifelong friends and contacts and have a few scoops (when he gets older of course ).

Enjoyed the rugby world cup in NZ. Prefer it to footie which I have been constantly subjected to for years.

A gentleman's game, of course.

All those big lads grappling in the mud:D great fun to watch.

Joking apart it's a far better game tactically and requires great physical strength and skill. More interaction between the whole team so better for youngsters in that sense.

Yes i watched wales v ireland today fantastic advert for rugby it had it all speed , power, skill and tremendous physicality particularly from the welsh George North being a prime example 6'5" 17 stone and fast and still only 19 WOW.

Everyone has gone quiet on the quiz thread recently -does that mean you are losing enthusiam?

Funny month for me so far, have either done really well or really badly -mostly tied into speed and the fact there are now more than 10 playing.

Would love to have a few different days with interesting categories again...just to brighten up a very drab month -hate Feb., can't wait for spring.:D

Well I was only there for a year, at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. It did once help me win a pub quiz in Cornwall where the tiebreak question was which US university's football team is called the Tarheels? Answer, UNC Chapel Hill!

Found out recently that my housemate while I was there went on to marry Senator John Edwards who was running for president a few years ago till she developed cancer and he puuled out. She died last year and cut him out of her will because he had an affair.

Can't say that my US sojourn helps much with the quiz - still find the US mindset hard to fathom.

I think may be permitted a grumble this morning...

It didn't really take me an hour today...

Went on the quiz site at about 9.35, clicked on the red arrow, wouldn't let me play, went off and did something more useful, came back an hour or so later, clicked again, submitted my answers and saw a time of over 3000 secs! it had been timing from my first attempt.

A lead of 13 points probably wiped out at one click as I will definitely be bottom today. :(:(:(

That's what I do. Although I was still caught out the other week.

I still find I trip up more often than not because of trying to go fast - didn't even read the one I got wrong today -just saw words from a song and clicked on any old answer -never get a guess right. Lucky me;)

Glad to see one of the newbies did well today -well done Steve R.

Even though he has been less than pleasant to me recently, I am gracious in defeat and will also congratulate the other Steve - don't make a habit of it though QEC!:D

Sorry more grumbles but getting a bit fed up with the quiz site again.

Went on the site just after 9.30, still down for aintenance. Ten minutes later, refreshed the page, didn't take me to the home page as it usually does but straight in to the quiz, saying timing had started. Dashed off my answers as I didn't know how long it had been timing and didn't want a repeat of the other day. Fortunately a good score and good time but could have been otherwise...

Anyway well done Di and Dave for 10 so far.

more repeat questions... and a truly banal one

The latter are the worst from the point of view of timingas you have to read the question more than once to decide whether they really are asking something so trivial or whether there's a hidden meaning. :eek:
