One is already in.The dolphin with a fish in it's mouth. It was playing, throwing the fish in the air for quite a while, which gave me time to focus on it

You should have done Mick. You might have made him a convert to Accyweb.

When I was in Preston Last Monday I was taking pics of County Hall and an old polish chap came up and spent nearly half an hour chatting to me. He wanted to know why I was taking pictures. I told him that I like interesting architecture.

The promised "Procession" was a bit of a damp squib -they no longer walk here from the little shrine down the lane -all a bit too old!( The youngest person was the priest (dressed in dark trousers and pale blue shirt) I went on my bike to take a pic as they'd put fresh flowers there - then all the partecipants arrived at the chapel in cars.
It was quite nice as they recited some rosaries and then sang an Ave Maria - I was outside listening as the sun went down.
Lots of remeniscing about the old days -when loads of people turned out and they processed with a band from the village and there was a big reception held in the farm yard with barrels of wine :D

More attempts to capture some nature, but not quite what I had hoped for to enter this latest Comp. I can sit there for ages, and as soon as an interesting creature appears I raise my camera, and the little beggars scarper! Oh well, it's lots of fun trying.

Davemac, where are you? I haven't seen a post from you in quite a few days. I hope all is ok with you and yours.

1. The elusive Ruby Throated Hummingbird - this one's a male (he has the ruby throat!)

2. My friend the Pileated Woodpecker. The noise he made drumming on this tree was quite impressive.

Thanks GP! I guess I just had a particular shot in mind, and of course nature doesn't always cooperate. That plus I'm still learning how to use this 'new to me' camera. The limits of the automatic settings are becoming apparent. Still, it's fun.
I really don't enter the Comps to win. I just enjoy the creative challenge, and the chance for growth. Besides - it's too darned hard coming up with new themes! Hah hah.

I understand that concept.....of having a particular shot in mind. But sometimes you have to modify your ambitions and take what nature gives you. Nature has been very generous with the material she provides........and your creative ideas don't leave you...you can put them on hold for another day.

I had heard it was typically bad Bank Holiday weekend over there -such a shame for all those families wanting to get out for picnics.

Don't mean to rub it in Margaret but here it seems to have settled into perfect "English Summer" weather - don't worry I'll soon be moaning that it's too hot!

I'd be proud if I'd managed to take those. I think they are amazing shots -especially the Hummingbird -they are incredibly fast movers...I struggle to get close enough to any birds to get their picture - unless of course they are knitted ;) (Like the kingfisher I posted a while back! )

I have just acquired a Panasonic Lumix FZ72. Well, I felt I deserved it. I get so much pleasure from taking pics and then messing with them.
I have been up to Ma's this morning to test out the zoom on it.
Here are some of the pics I took from her back yard.

1) The spire of Cannon St baptist church(circled and arrowed because it is hard to see)
2) Same spire
3) in better detail.
4) the body of the church.

They've been harvesting the winter wheat today. Apparently the combine driver saw a fox with two cubs in the field first thing but luckily they escaped - the man with the shogun is the farm owner - he wasn't after the foxes. He had a few shots at pheasant which were lifted as the harvester went along - while I was there he didn't manage to shoot any!

The harvested wheat is made into corn silage in a sort of giant sausage - had never seen it being done before -clever piece of kit to see in action. In the final photo you can see this years new product on the left and the one on the right is last year's which is in use now.

It's funny how cats choose their owners like that - it's happened to me many times over the years. I have a great affinity with them. My oldest cat, Teo is now 18 but still in quite good shape -she's given up climbing trees but she still keeps her eyes open for birds when she comes out to sit with me.

Silage Sausages! Who'd of thunk it?!

These are Jen's pics. The ones that Mobertol wanted to see in either Sepia, or Black and White. I have edited them with photoscape so that you can have both and see which you like best.
I have also cropped them a bit too to make the lady more central to the theme.
Hope you like them Jen....and Dianne.

I think they are all good. Misty and Moody.
I especially like the panoramic shots. They are fubulous.

Glad you like them Jen. I think your shot of this lady was great in colour, but in sepia and black and white it has more drama. It is more 'of the era', so to speak.
As I said the initial material to work with was good.....so it was easy to do.

I wish I hadn`t took her, poor thing was shivering. I couldn`t even let her off the lead to have a run about to warm up.

Nice footage of Sally :)
Could you give me some pointers on uploading videos please Restless? There are some scenes I'd like to share too.

Please do not upload video it takes a lot of server space up
also there is no need to quote a post with a video in as this doubles space used

Jen's Pics....1940's Weekend in Ramsbottom.
I put the 'Lady on the Train' on again because Jen said this is how they were...talking to each other.

The B&W gives a really nice vintage feel to the photos - really like them this way.

Firstly how big is the footage? if the files are small and don't need editing you can just upload them directly to youtube. otherwise....

What operating system do you have? If its Win7 or Win8 you most likely don't have movie maker installed. You can find it here

Movie Maker - Microsoft Windows

One of the easiest programs to use is free from microsoft. Its not the most powerful, but I use it; because I am lazy.

When you download it. It gives you the option by default to install all of microsofts 'essentials' uncheck them all and just install movie maker(unless you want the other programs)

.....if its is rather large(over 500mb onwards) you could use movie maker. You can edit out bits and bats easily with that if need be, and add music... And then you save the video (file, save movie) and choose the youtube setting. Save the movie and then sign up to youtube...

Once signed up to youtube, you can upload the video using the upload button that is on every youtube page when your signed in on the top right of the screen.

Other ways. If you are on an android phone you can press the share button, and with youtube app installed to your phone you choose youtube and it will upload it. (you have to be registered and signed in). Same with iphone/ipad but Ive never used them, so I can't offer support on apple products...

If you need more indepth help. You throw me a PM....
