Today I went off to Hesketh Park.
1) sign detailing the attractions and the walks
2) spring flowers - a carpet of them.
3) A very ornate fountain - alas not working today
4) 'Come on lads, pies have come'......feeding the birds.
5) watching to see if the pies are coming. A congregation of birds.
6) 'One day I WILL catch one of those ducks'......missed again
7) Purple Crocus.
8) Pretty blue flowers. I have to call them that......I don't have a clue as to what they are...but Davemac will be along in a mo.
9) Looking through the trees to the lake.
10) Had a swift blow on the pier before I got the bus back home.

As you can see from the pics the day was very kind. Gave me lots of sunshine. Recharged my batteries very nicely.

Your are right, I get them mixed up , as you say, cormorants hang around Dean Clough Reservoir but I never get close enough to snap.

This was on the opposite bank and I thought Max would have scared it off. It stopped for a while before taking off never taking it's beady eye off Max

I knew you would know what they were.(and now I do too)
When I saw them from a distance I thought they were bluebells and yet they weren't quite the right colour.
I know....I must get to Specsavers. More so because on the pier I though I had come across a dead pigeon. When I got closer it was only a dead pizza box - nothing like a pigeon.

Today in Pictures, the nice weather has brought out an early flush of Fungi.

1. - 4. Arboreal fungi.
5. This bloke said what shall I carve, I said I don't know, but make it snappy.
6. He also did a seat.
7. Up to the focal point.
8. A recently re-built wall, it doesn't perform any function, so must have been a learning exercise.
9. View across the field in the direction of Baxenden.
10. Pendle in the distance.

They were not used much in this area, although they are starting to be planted more, there is a small crop in the garden at the bottom of Avenue Parade. They look and feel very much like a bluebell, but a tad too soon for them.
A pizza box is a bit of a stretch for a pigeon, its a good job you didn't have a shotgun.

There are mixed opinions about the new work being undertaken up there, but I find it to have improved the area, and made it more accessible, plus the wood sculptures are now dotted all over the place giving it another interest.

Nice to see places I recognise and others I don't - everyone seems to be much more professional in their photo taking compared to when Dave started the thread - back when!
I am posting a selction from a walk on Sunday along the river to Costa Sant'Abramo - started out as a lovely bright and blustery day and ended up with me having to run home ahead of a storm front - just made it back in time! Number 5 shows a shot looking back to our farm (Cascina Valcarengo -the yellow chapel tower can be seen for miles around!) Spotted a collection of old stuff under someone's steps in the village, which is quite interesting.

The bridge in the foreground is one of those old brick footbridges which the farmers used to use for access -I didn't give it a try! The one behind carries a road. I like 7 too for the colours of the buildings round the church and that forbidding sky. In 4 you can really see the storm front which swept in all of a sudden. it snowed in the Alps that day and the temps dropped from 25°C down to 12°C! Still very variable and stormy now but that's normal for this time of year.
Your flowers and droplets are gorgeous Dave - I'm missing my daffs this year -stupidly didn't dig up my bulbs at the old house. I used to pick big bunches of them to put in the house...

Things are afoot at Cascina Valcarengo - lots of building going on over the last month and still ongoing. The plan is to increase the size of the herd from 350 milkers to 500 by September. First the existing buildings have to be lengthened and other changes made. This is the first selection of photos showing progress - the building which houses young stock and dry cows is currently being finished off. Here you can see it before work started and then part way through. It has already been roofed and they are finishing off the fittings at the moment. A few shots around the farm showing our state of the art milking parlour which was opened in October - it's a 20 x 2 so they milk 40 cows at at time. A shot of the stockage tank for that stuff cows produce a lot of as well as milk! Also a photo of the space age milk tank featuring my husband and the farm owner! Final shot shows evening light through the old chapel arch in the original farm buildings which date back to the late 1700's and have been largely restored by the current owners.

A visit to PLAC dairies in Cremona to show how our milk is transformed into Grana Padana cheese. Similar to Parmigiano Reggiano (Parmesan) it is Italy's most exported DOP ("protected origin" )foodstuff with 1,000,000 cheeses of 40-44kg each being sold abroad per year. The warehouse at the end of the set of photos houses 160,000 cheeses, which are matured there for between 16-24 months, as well as other products which are all different forms of Provolone cheese.
Our farm is a member of a different cooperative dairy in Soresina which produces the cheese in exactly the same way - it is much larger and their warehouse has 1,000,000 of these cheeses stored. http://www.latteriasoresina.it/en/company/
I went on this trip to act as translator to the two farmers from California (pictured with beers after the tour) who were visiting us that day. Hank Van Exel and Jory Arioso who between them milk 2500 cows! Hank was in Italy as he was the judge at the European Dairy Show in Cremona this year(he is wearing the cap!).

If you use firefox, you can download a plug in called exify, shows you some basic exif info if its included in the pic.

Sorry folks, too technical for me that lingo ;)

I set my shutter speed to about 15-30secs (depending what I'm lighting
/writing) and my exposure to between 200-800 depending how much lights about.
I'm also using my phones browser so not sure if I can gather the pictures property info

On my phone I've a app (long expose?) that allows you to do shutter speed manually so you could take 10mins+ writing with a light.
Light painting/writing could also make a interesting theme for a photo comp :D

The warehouse at the end of the set of photos houses 160,000 cheeses, which are matured there for between 16-24 months, as well as other products which are all different forms of Provolone cheese.
Our farm is a member of a different cooperative dairy in Soresina which produces the cheese in exactly the same way - it is much larger and their warehouse has 1,000,000 of these cheeses stored. Company | Soresina English

That is a very interesting set of photos, an insight into cheesier things, I followed the link and watched the clip, although he repeats Latteria Sorensina to many times, is an interesting look at the birth of the co-operative.

I've installed the "add on" and its very informative with the pictures posted, although it does not show every ones exif info, it does for most, you get to know what cameras were used to take the snaps plus a whole lot of other information that made me go cross eyed

Sometimes the exif is stripped depending on how they are edited. With mine, if i open and edit a JPEG in photoshop it stays intact. If I open RAW in Lightroom and export to JPEG it stays intact. If I open RAW in Lightroom, export to photoshop then save to JPEG the exif is stripped. Probably a setting in Lightroom I haven`t found yet.

When I inspect the information more closely it is amazing what gets attached to a picture that even though it has been reduce down to a small size for publication is still there. It shows camera and lens size, but more telling it shows all the manual and automatic settings used, then it shows and software used to process the image, with date and times as well, then a long list of other information only of use to a scientist in atomic physics

We all got a very nice goody bag from him at the end of the tour - about 6lbs in weight of a selection of cheeses!

Yesterday turned out to be a perfect day -remeniscent of an English summer day. I went to investigate a burst of yellow which had appeared across the river and found a very photogenic field - I think it's rapeseed. I had a pleasant chat to the two local ladies who were out walking and spotted lots of nice new bright green growth along the river. It's a shame you can't capture sounds on photographs - all was quiet except for tractors in the distance and the birdsong was incredible -very peaceful and good for the soul :)

Your season appears to have moved on a bit, we don't have any fields of Rape anywhere as near to flowering as that, and the ground looks snuff dry already. A nice look at spring colours with a feeling of warmth.

I'd agree with that assumption Mo, plenty of fields of it here too, it's a popular crop which isn't labour intensive.

Didn't get back until $pm and had to make the tea...so there was a bit of a delay.
Had a great day. Walked the length of Lord Street, went on the pier......walked right to the end. Now I have a couple of pics for the comp too.
Hope you like my offerings.
(Oh yes....I see I have a couple of 'likes'...thank you)

Remy, is a rescue dog. I spent a few minutes talking with her owner. I asked if I could take her picture. I have put it on my Flickr page so that her owner can take a copy if she wants to(I told her I would do this).
The lady eating the ice cream also gave permission for me to take her picture. It looks like the ice cream was good.
I had a lovely day out. I didn't go to the shops (well, other than for a sandwich and a drink) I just spent the day taking snaps.
So apart from the cost of my butty I spent nothing.....zero, zilch.

Today in Pictures, a visit to a favourite location, Pendle Hill, a very windy experience, and as the sun was shining a few people were knocking about.

1. Walls, walls and more walls.
2. More walls, and a hill in the mist.
3. Sat in the wet moss you can see the sedges are flowering.
4. That's a struggle for a little fat chap.
5. The trig point is coming into view.
6. Strewth, not another one.
7. I bet you were thinking you hadn't seen any pink sphagnum moss this year, well I found it.
8. Stuff grows in strange places.
9. Rocks on a rock.
10. A watery sun.

I know it isn't quite right Dave.....I was on the pier, the puddle of rippled wet stuff was by a stanchion.......anyway, I didn't have a spare pair of undergrunnies with me....so I wasn't sitting in it and having the folk on the bus back home think I was an incontinent old woman. :)

Yes it was quite busy...especially on Lord Street. I will soon be able to call it leafy Lord street......the greenery is now starting to sprut......by next weekend! Oh no......Next weekend it is Welsh Wales for us.

MargP - I do like to be beside the seaside... You can't beat certain things "British" -looks like it was a lovely day out.
GP - very nice shot of the Grebes and bunnies - wildlife is the hardest thing to capture.
Dave - for me it's 1 in first place - dry stone walls are on a par with cobbles (in their absence especially) -10 is in second place.

^ There used to be a really nice hand-made chocs shop in Lord Street aeons ago Margaret, I wonder if it's still there -I used to love the window display and occasionally treated myself to a violet cream or a rose cream with little crystallised flowers on top! :) There was also a very nice Victorian Arcade -almost as nice as Accy's!

I think that must've gone Dianne. I certainly don't recall it.
There are two lovely Arcades......The Wayfarers and another one whose name I can't bring to mind right now - it will come to me when I stop thinking about it.
The Wayfarers is still full of shops, unlike our Victorian Arcade.......which has very little inside.(such a shame)
