Well, here it is! 8) Shiny red Vespa. 9) another one for the mods. |

Yes Dave......it made up for my peevish pentulance yesterday.
I had a lovely day out...and I think this is only the second time in my life that I have seen the tide all the way in at Southport. |

Today in pictures. It turned out to be more than a moist moment. So with the sun beating down and hotter than a Spanish deckchair, it was a shirt sleeved experience.
1. Plants develop their own defence against pests. 2. A Larch cone. 3. It was at this point I exclaimed that it was raining over there. 4. Not a lot of bold colours around here at the moment, and with that a few spots of rain started. 5. By now the droplet size was heavy rain sized, and my shirt was at maximum absorbency. 6. By now the rain was dripping off my ears like Bet Lynchs' earrings. 7. Visibility is now naff. 8. Why is he the only sensible one, taking shelter. 9. I don't know why I am now sheltering, my knickers are wet through. 10. Despite the wet through look, the uncomfortable chaffing, and the 10 minutes yet to go before the car will be in sight, I took the time to get a bit arty farty. |

Re: Today in pictures
Just a minute you two... I just looked at Google Earth to see where Southport lies in relation to Accrington (I know, I know - I've been gone too long )
If your shots were taken today, how come one of you (davemac) was in pouring rain, and Margaret in radiant sunshine?!! Is the weather that variable over there? |

Not a bad day today, a couple of grey clouds & the occasional light sprinkling of moisture, but all in all sunshine & blue skies, so a venture forth produced the following. :)
Poppies & cornflowers - Osnabrücks inaugural Beer festival - Some of the sculptures on the "Rathaus" (Town Hall) - Happy throngs & Beer tents - Standesamt (registry office) & MarienKirche - Tweedle Dum & Tweedle Dee Scot & Pete old friends of ours - "Haus der 101 Biers" one of many traders in liquid pleasure - Throngs from the other end of the Marktplatz & the "Rathaus" as a backdrop - Nadine, lady friend of Chris (our Lad), Witchy one - The Marienkirche. |
Re: Today in pictures
I sometimes wish I could transport myself......the way they used to do on Star Trek.
I would love a half hour( a female half hour that is) run around there.......and I would not stop to look at or sample the food and drink......my time would be spent aiming my lens. I would also transport myself to some of the places that Dianne shows us. I would be in my element, delirious with delight. |

|
Re: Today in pictures
There was a load of motorbikes in Broadway when I went down at 11.30.
|
Re: Today in pictures
No Frank. This is a picture I took yesterday. I can think of no earthly reason to venture into Accy on a Sunday...himself went and told me about the bikes.
I wouldn't go out of my way to photograph them...yesterday I just snapped them because they were there. Motorbikes are a 'boy' thing. |
Re: Today in pictures
I wouldn't normally venture out down Broadway on a Sunday, but I had a hearing appointment at specsavers

More pics that were taken yesterday but have been meddled with today.
1) Family enjoying the warm sunshine on the green space of Lord Street. 2) Toddler playing at the end of the pier. 3) Blackpool Tower. Taken from the end of the pier. I was a bit disappointed with the picture of the tower......Having said that, I personally could not see the tower at all until I tried to photograph it....and even then it was hazy. |

Today in Pictures, almost the same scenario as yesterday, shirt sleeves.....then ending up with wet knickers.
1.Heading down to the river, a favourite walk, but only when time can be elastic as I get lost in my hobby. 2. If I sit down there my jacksie will be on the floor. 3. The green to the horizon is a welcome change from a winter of brown. 4. I carry my boat all this way...just to find it has a hole in......so that is the wet knickers part. (River Calder) 5. Its a blue damselfly Banded Demoiselle | british-dragonflies.org.uk 6. Heading upstream. 7. The turning point of the journey today, Cock Bridge. 8. This view is seconds from the main road. 9. Nuts.....Beech nuts to be specific. 10. A first for me, recently fledged. It has started to rain, hence the wet feathers . |
Re: Today in pictures
Good spot No. 10, I`m yet to see one in the wild. Blends well into the tree.

Todays pics were just some test shots, trying out a different auto-focus setting (only usually use AF for landies)
1. I think she`s getting fed up sitting there all day. 2 & 3. A Thrush 4. Droplets in a flower. 5. Back to manual focus, AF couldn`t find this squirrel. 6. A few seconds earlier, their heads and necks made a love heart shape. 7. Low light means the pics get a bit noisey. 8. Oh Oh, this little ones fell down the waterfall and can`t get back up. 9. All alone. 10. Mum`s here to save the day. |

Here`s mine for today, I was hoping for deer, which I did see but they were too quick for me.
1. Some slightly misty water. 2. One of the places I saw the deer. 3. A rushed, one handed snap. 4. My feet are wet through now, I think I need some new boots. 5. Early morning moon 6-9. Not seen one of these before, I think it`s a pied wagtail, a right little poser. 10. The view from Haslingden road. |
Re: Today in pictures
Great range of shots in all the pics I've seen today - love the fox, the owl and the two white ducks with reflection. It's getting to be a bit like the Wind in the Willows so I'll add a rather ugly toad which is one of a large group which congregate around my plant pots in the evening. We also have a visiting hedgehog who I'll try to photograph next time I see him! I also especially liked Margaret's one of the 3 people on the boards and Dave shot no.7 of the river.

A mixed bag of shots, more of a diary of my weekend than anything...
1. Market Day in Georgetown 2. Locally grown strawberries are in season. I eat as many as I can! 3. A quiet place for a Sunday breakfast. Not a living soul in sight! 4. It comes with a nice view too. 5. A robin perches perkily. 6. Comes in handy for all those flowers. 7. The Furry Ratbag in a bowl (thanks, DiG, I've adopted this title for her - seems to fit rather well at times :D) 8. You call this stuff good? 9. Now human toes - these are tasty! |

Today in Pictures, Clayton Forest before they start the improvements.
1. Its mostly self seeded trees at the moment, with not many specimen trees. 2. Its a weir, notice the view point, and remember.......if its not wet you aren't doing it right. 3. Clayton fields is off to the right of the picture. 4. Not sure if this section will be included in the clean up ? 5. With my back to the weir, the River Hyndburn heads for Hyndburn Bridge. 6. The path along the edge of the river, although it is down a steep slope from here. 7. Bridge over the river, the path goes to Great Harwood. 8. This path goes from Lower Barnes Street to Hyndburn Bridge. 9. It must have been a Road of importance, they wouldn't have cobbled it otherwise. |

Today in Pictures a walk down the Woodlands, and would you believe it there is a lot of wood.
1. A Mirid Bug, I never saw any last year. 2. Proper sneezing fuel. 3. Wood, as far as the eye can see. 4. And a bit further than that. 5. My dog does this occasionally. 6. I think this is the Harlequin Ladybird, the foreign invader that will wipe out the native species. 7. I have never come across it before, and could only see this one. 8. I am not tuned into fungi spotting yet, but just stumbled across this little patch. 9. Could I suggest a little moisturiser. |

Today wasn`t what i`d planned, a problem SD card problem ruined this mornings plans, and this evening, well, sometimes nature is not nice to see, if there hadn`t been a happy ending I wouldn`t be showing some of these pics.
1. Trying out a CPL filter, i`ve had it a while but not really used it much. 2. Fishing on the canal. 3. Horses frollicking. 4. Was going to avoid taking pics of birds today, but not seen one of these before, anyone know what it is. 5. Approaching these, I did wonder why they were reluctant to go in the water. 6. The adult goose that did go in the canal was attacked by a swan. 7. As were the rest. 8. And it made a bee-line for the goslings. 9. It did escape though. 10. I threw some stones into the canal to distract the swan while this little one escaped. And there was another a bit further up the canal the managed to make it back, all eight made it back to mum and dad, swan was one nasty sod though. |

Today in Pictures, a walk across the field and through the wood.
1. Conkers. 2. Through the field. 3. The buttercups have sunk under the next wave of other plants, grasses are now the dominant plant. 4. Through the wood with dappled shade. There are numerous birds singing in the trees, and the flying insects are getting busy. 5. A difficult species to identify, however it is an umbeliferas plant. 6. The woods are filling out with green stuff. 7. The common spotted orchid. This year they have spread through the woods. (millennium baby wood) 8. Knapweed. 9.Grass as far as the eye can see, and that isn't very far due to the hayfever. 10. Yesterday was the first time I saw a harlequin ladybird, now another........RUN THEY ARE COMING.........but slowly. |

You parents look great :) |
Re: Today in pictures
I am not a great fan of fish(except the kind you get at the chippy) but the pictures are lovely and convey the feel of the place...and I have to agree with Carolyn....your parents look fantastic, it must be the warmth and the sun that keeps them going,,,,and looking so well.

Yesterday was perfect - no clouds, warm but not too hot. Hubby and I went for a little toot along one of our favourite roads: The Forks of the Credit road near Belfountain. Being in the middle of the week, and early morning, there was little or no traffic. On weekend it can be clogged with tourists from the city. So glad we missed them!
1. They're not kidding. 2. Off we go! 3. One of many nice turns, but they've installed speed bumps for the summer! 4. No clouds today. 5. A river! I need photos for the Comp. Can we stop? No, oh well. 6. Trees whizz by (hubby is camera shy - that's his Greek Fisherman's cap to keep the sun off his bonce) 7. Switchback sign. 8. Someone took it a little too fast! 9. This morning - clouds are back, but nice wispy ones. 10. Red Squirrel I saw on my walk - wish I had my proper camera with me. |
