Did you go? I promise you there's not been a smidge of snow around Warrington today, not even any frost this morning. It snowed twice, in this area, yesterday. Both times it was for 5 minutes and both times it melted before it hit the ground.

Another link to the expected weather next week, but not the weather that interested me, it was the comment by Akki of Accrington where the Icelanders have sent 3,000 jumpers to the U.K. because they had heard our elderly residents were suffering due to them not being able to pay their fuel bills.

Felt a bit funny about it .. being a relief area .. :( Still, good to know we can get help from other countrys instead of handing it out.

Big chill set to hit Lancashire next week (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Has anyone any idea where all those jumpers went? I saw the report in the papers but it didn't mention any destination. Will those who might be entitled to one have to apply through the "usual channels"? If so, I can see it being mid Summer, 2010, before they get a cardi.

Right, got it .... you mean South Australia as a 'state' (south east), rather than geographic south... which is where Victoria is. Just that he was talking about very high temperatures of 40+, Should be OK then. Ta.

We have been very lucky so far ,and not had any major bushfires as yet,in South Australia.
A fire started on Saturday [20klms away ] but was quickly extinguished.
South Australia is noted as being the driest state in the driest continent on earth

When we had that scortching hot summer 2 years ago I desperately tried to buy a mobile airconditioning machine and they were sold out.

I eventually got one in a January sale (be prepared for next time I thought)

It has been used for less than 24 hours in total in the 2 years since.:o

It has an alternative function as a BIG fan heater - which might be needed someday:rolleyes:

It's snowing here ... and the forcast for tomorrow, more snow .... we started winter weather here in the last two weeks of October, and winter is still going strong. I've worn out one snow shovel, and have had to have my skates sharpenned 4 times .... but I still use the bbq, and all you have to do to get fresh fish is drill a hole in the ice.:theband:

Oh yeh, more snow is on the way ... but only a light dusting of 10cm on the weekend .... this has been a long winter ... but it can't last more than a couple of more months:eek:

South Australia is noted as being the driest state in the driest continent on earth
Let,s hope our good luck continues

Bushfires in Victoria just about under control

Here in SA our first rainfall in 80 days, even though it was only 10 mm, it was most welcome.

Never ... in winter I live in an igloo .... and, according to the long range forecast, I might have to get my teepee ready to go ..... ;)

But seriously ... no, when winter arrives, I get out and enjoy it .... drove past the lake yesterday and there were lots of folks out on the ice enjoying the sunshine ... it was cold (about -15 with the windchill) but that doesn't keep everyone from having fun. And it looks like spring might be on the way in the next couple of weeks ... and if the next few weeks don't bring us nice weather, I can always take in a show at the K-Rock ... looks like Neil Young, k. d. lang, Bryan Adams, the Tragically Hip, and Diana Krall will be coming this month.

This has been a long, cold winter ... the worst in 15 years ... esp. out west: in Regina, Sask. they had 60 days where they recorded temps below -30:eek: But .... almost over:mosher:
