A few shots showing friend Dave getting the mast and then the sailing boat ready to go out. No shots from on board as my camera is not waterproof -didn't want to risk it in case we capsized - we didn't and went the whole length of Ullswater on a beautiful day...The last shots are a few from around Dacre village, I especially like the old stile lit up in the evening sun, and the Horse and Farrier pub -our local in the Lakes.

Today in Pictures, another rainy day, but you have to be in it to wet it.

1. Its late in the year for caterpillars.
2. The fungi season is well under way.
3. Upper Dean Clough Reservoir.
4. Its belting it down here.
5. Furthest point today, time to head back.
6. The hills in the distance have vanished under low cloud.
7. Climbing back up the hill, and the car.
8. Have you met our Gill.
9. Not common, the Yellow Staghorn.
10. I just have to finish with a droplet.

Wonderful close up shots! I had no idea there were so many different kinds of fungi. Is Lancashire known for rare species? And you caught a droplet on the caterpillar too :)

I have only taken a small selection of fungi in the area, the season has not got a full head of steam just yet,I am not sure that is a droplet on the caterpillar, but could be. I think the species of fungi has got slowly better as the pollution has been taken out of the air, and we are taking better care of our green bits.

I'm sure a number of them are edible too Dave - perhaps you should get a guide, though it can be a dangerous business eating wild mushrooms if you mis-identify them. It's very popular in Italy but you have to get a licence and use a special basket so that any spores will fall back to the ground so more will come back up. In all the major health centers here there is an expert who can help with identification...

I don't have the confidence to eat those in the wild, there are not that many that are deadly here, but your first mistake is probably your last. I have found though that fungi don't necessarily come up in the same quantities every year, I have visited sites this year that had large spreads of fungi last year, this year nothing. Must get some batteries for my fungi detector.

Love the clouds and mountain shots and number 9 is almost reversible with the reflection, good un.
You have to get down to get the droplets, once you have a moist gusset you will be at one with the moisture.

It gets a bit obsessive around this time of year, but I never think of eating any of them, to risky if you don't know what you are doing.

No, it was between the cycle path connecting Church & Rishton and the High Street canal bridge in Rishton, there is a lot of digging around the fields as well, I think they are installing some pipes. You can see them in the background of the pic where Duke is catching the ball.

Dave you can see the start of autumn in the pics of Oakhill park -love the one of the house especially.

DiG - The Greyhound was my local - only found out recently that there used to be a Greyhound racecourse where Atlas Street and all the streets off it up to Whalley Rd are, as far down as where the old Load of Mischief used to be(now the M65). That was back in the late 1700's to mid 1800's -hence the name of the pub. Looks like you've had a very varied holiday so far -hope you enjoy the rest of it.

A trip to Castelrigg stone circle last month during my hols. Worth visiting as it's set in stunning 360° scenery. We sat on the stones eating fish'n'chips from the great chippy in the center of Keswick while waiting for the sun to set. There was a real druid to add a bit of colour and a group of sunworshippers who did their stuff in the center of the circle! :hothothot

Great shots! What a place :)

Today in Pictures, my quest to visit parks continues, no I didn't know I was either, it is just a coincidence.

1. Main entrance, Milnshaw Park.
2. This used to be the path up to the paddling pool.
3. A small but perfectly formed play equipment.
4. Stood in the disused tennis courts looking uphill.
5. A whole herd of fungi.
6. Hagg Lodge before we head over Owd Bobs to Gatty Park.
7. The side entrance and the bowling green at the bottom.
8. A bit of colour, whilst the weather holds.
9. Elmfield Hall, the war memorial and the golden jubilee stone all in view.
10. All that sun and he sits in the shade.

It wasn't easy getting the park to ourselves, I had to chase everyone out waving a stick,.................no I didn't, there were a few people about but not as many as I would have thought. It was warm holiday like weather, blue sky, and you could hear the aircraft flying overhead, a very holiday feel about the place.

Its a viburnum, they are edible if cooked, but I have no idea what they taste of.

Dave you have been going to some of my favourite places again -I love the photos of Gatty Park -spent many a happy hour there as a girl.

Jen -lovely sunny photos again -great colours. Hope you're soon feeling better :)

DiG - you really should be careful who you associate with ;) Found out recently through a friend why Wigan-folk are known as Pie-eaters - apparently they broke a county-wide mining strike in the 1800's and ever after had to eat humble pie. I'd always thought it was just because you got good pies in Wigan.

I don't know about viburnum berries but I think the seeds pods are poisonous. Aged 11 I spent a long afternoon in Accy Vic. waiting to get my ankle looked at -I'd broken it by falling off my space-hopper :o One of the longest days of my life as a group of kids were brought in and were given priority, they had to have their stomachs pumped because they'd eaten viburnum seeds thinking they were some kind of beans.

I think you might be mixing up your Laburnum with Viburnum, Laburnum seeds have pods that are kidney shaped, and black seeds.

1. Just what it says on the tin.
2. Looking to the right, at the entrance.
3. Heading uphill.
4. At the top end, looking down to the bottom entrance.
5. There is always one.
6. From the top end of the wooded area, looking over to Pendle Hill.
7. A bit lower down, and a bit further round, you can see Martholme Viaduct.
8. And in the forest there was a house made out of gingerbread.
9. Back at the main entrance, almost.
10. Just time for a last one.

I have not done much with the camera this last week or two as I seem to have been busy helping out at the Welfare for the blind society.
I installed a Braille embossing machine and linked it to their laptop.
The Rotary Club had donated a large amount of money towards it so they came to the unveiling ceremony where I demonstrated it.

No.1 The unveiling.
No.2. We took a group of visually impaired people the the Sight Village Roadshow which was held in a hotel at Manchester.
No.3 Sign outside.
No.4 & 5 View from the outside terrace.
No.6 Top of a bus.
No.7 I had a walk out later and took this.
No.8 & 9 River Irwell, much cleaner than last time I was in Manchester centre, which was 1968, yes sixty eight.

If anybody needs to send a letter or document written in Braille to a visually impaired person then call in to the shop on Bank street and it will be done for you. That's what it was bought for.

1. The entrance close to the church.
2. A line of Lime trees along Grange Street.
3. Centre of the park looking back to the way we came in.
4. The sensory garden.
5. Another view to the war memorial.
6. An ugly fungi.
7. Mercer House.
8. I'm on the ground again.
9. I'm still there, Puff Balls.
10. All the way round and back to the way we came in.

Today I took the Canon Rebel down to the ponds and river at the back of my house. I almost never go there, which is silly because I'm so close. But you see, Accy Web is inspiring me to get out there, get my feet and even my socks wet. (Yes, davemac, I got down on all fours for the droplets!)

When I got home, I was so disappointed with my photos (thank goodness for large memory cards), and realized I really do have to read that darned manual. I hope the tiny perfect mushroom will be there again tomorrow! I must give that another try. http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/i...es/redface.gif

Glad the inspiration is coming from the site, I hope you will find places that are new to you and to see the things you know in a different way. All fours and wet socks is a good sign, keep it up.

Just recently I too have started using light room 5, one really handy feature I like is the gps tagging of photos, even if your camera doesn't support it you can put an app on your smartphone and export the file and Light room will tag your photos with the Gps location, and it shows you exactly where you took them clever stuff
