1. As you wood expect trees (see what I did there).
2. Now that we have had light frosts the leaves are falling.
3. It only seems two minutes that I was here looking for the late flowering Bluebells.
4. Clitheroe is in the distance.
5. A bit further around and you can see Longridge Fell in the distance.
6. Whalley to the left, and Longridge Fell further on.
7. Back on the trail.
8. Its downhill all the way from here.
9. To finish off fungi a go-go.
10. Soon the fungi will disappear when the frost gets heavy, what will I do with myself..

Great shots as always - hope you feel better soon :)

It would be nice to sleep at night, but I am coughing myself awake, so feel a bit like a wet window cleaners chamois at the moment. I just hope I have peaked and its better from here on in.

Yes, I can see that now - embarrassed to say I was just looking at it artistically. Must be as a result of the hot summer you had. We had a hot summer over here too, but it came with lots of rain. And storms - sometimes scary ones!

I always get a nasty cough with my colds too. Nothing to do but ride it out, as so-called cough remedies don't do a thing. I usually spend the night on the couch, propped up with pillows to remain semi-vertical. Take care of yourself, and keep your gusset dry for a time!

Duke has a lot more brown spots on his back, but more significantly, you can`t mistake his big fat head.

A good compact camera can produce pictures just as good as a DSLR, I see nothing wrong with your selection.

It's been a disappointing fall here, colour-wise. Now it's raining and drab, with most of the leaves down. Luckily I took a few snaps from the car last week... not great photography-wise, but they may bring you all some colour on a lazy Sunday afternoon (evening for you).

Today in Pictures, a muggy overcast day, not quite raining, just SPITTING that stuff that wets you.

1. Its sunny over on Pendle Hill, you can just make out Gpick24.
2. Looking back down the path, you can see the turbines of Ossy.
3. The bench with a plaque on, dedicated to Adrian Shurmer.
4. Another bench.
5. If you put your ear to the ground you can hear the trains of yesteryear.
6. Having taken a side path you can see the tree line where the trains passed along.
7. Back on the line, this is the viaduct that goes over Martholme Lane.
8. The time of year has turned leaves of green to yellow and then brown.
9. Spider in a web on a dried burdock plant.
10. You wouldn't want that growing on the end of your nose. I apologise to those that have.

Not better yet, I haven't let it keep me in though, the dog has to walk, so with a nasal decongestant up my nose, Olbas oil on my chest, and a fisherman's friend in my mouth, I am the picture of a man who hasn't slept, but has nasal decongestant up his nose etc, it doesn't make me feel any better, but the medicinal smell I give off makes people avoid me like I have the plague, plus the horsey cough helps if a fog rolls in off the sea.

Today in Pictures, a day for cloudscapes.

1. What can I say, its a big red one.
2. Millennium Baby Garden on a wet day.
3. The last time I stood here the sun was shining, not today.
4. Moving away from the garden and across the fields.
5. Slightly off piste, but a good shot.
6. All that stick throwing up at the conkers, they are all over the floor now, and no one here to collect them.
7. A final burst of colour from a fuchsia.
8. A view from the entrance of St Marys Churchyard.
9. Old fashioned fence posts.
10. That statue is the grave of the last two priests to serve at the church.

And with that contribution I take my leave for a few days, a lot to do, runs to Preston, sort out the backlog of photos for Flickr, and a few "dads taxi" jobs. I have left the key for the executive toilet on the bookcase, and some chocolates and cakes in the Mods cupboard. I will be checking in daily, but not contributing, so best behaviour.

"On the move" -some shots of the farm I'll be moving to next month -looks a lovely area -bit hectic at the moment so struggling to keep up with all your photos -please have patience with me!! These are a number of photos around the farm which has it's own chapel. The old 17thC cow barn has vaulted ceilings and stone pillars - no longer in use. There is a lovely river nearby, the Morbasco, with a pretty wooded area and there are views to the Alps and the Apennines on a clear day -looking forward to the move. :) PS my house is the reddish one with the lower roof to the left where the lovely poplar trees are -the white van is the plumbers who are in putting in the new bathrooms!

I think I just timed it right for the big red jobbies, never managed a photo before, they will all have gone by next week, not posting pictures for a few days to get a few things out of the way, I am not getting any worse with the coughie coldie thing so I must have got over the hump.

Never thought of that - but 9 and 10 are a good way of getting round the 10-pics maximum rule.

As for Dianne's recipe in another post - that sounds absolutely delicious. Shame we don't give any thought to cooking other varieties in this country. Mind you I can no longer eat mushrooms so it shouldn't bother me but I can dream. Meat & potato pie with mushy peas and gravy from the chippy tonight and that's not a dream. Sorry that should be potato & meat pie these days so I'm told. At least that's honest!

I have not been out much this week so I have not much to show you, anyway I was messing about at home with the camera using different lenses and came up with one or two I like.

No.1 The moon through a long lens
No.2 A penny through a macro lens.
No.3 The Queens lips from a twenty pound note.
No.4 A Frenchman's breakfast.
No.5 View through the bottom of a half full pint glass.
No.6 View of a pretty lady through the same glass. Lets call her Stella.
No.6 View of a spider through the same glass.

All straight from the card, no editing apart from cropping.

The spider was a plastic one, it was one of many my cleaner put in my bed when she made it. I pulled the sheets back about ten thirty to go to bed and nearly jumped out of my skin.

Nice having a cleaner with a sense of humour! But just the thought of spiders in the bed makes me go all funny...

The story is that I knew she was frightened of spiders so I thought I would play a trick on her.
I took a photo of a long legged insect thing and printed it on sticky back paper and put it on the underside of the toilet lid. When she lifted the lid she ran screaming out of the bathroom.
The spiders she put in my bed were all attached to a very fine web so when I moved the first one the rest started to move as well.
I had checked under my pillows before she left because I knew she was up to something but didn't look right down under the sheets.
We have called a truce now, for the time being.
It's worth the money I pay them to have company and a bit of fun for an hour twice a week.

Just shows you don't really need to go out to get some interesting photos - I particulary like the penny - has great texture. Love the story of the spider. Hope it didn't make you jump too much Russell -though to be honest you deserved it!:p

You've had some mileage out of those sunflowers...love the autumn colours in number 2 -really makes the town center look bright.

1. Crossing over to the wrong side of the tracks.
2. Looking over the allotments.
3-5. Some sky pics.
6. Come down from there.
7. A hint of purple in the sky.

Still out of sync, been in Preston all afternoon, so here is yesterday in pictures.

1. Calf Hey Reservoir on a wet day, with low cloud. The remains of buildings you see date back to the rein of Elizabeth 1st.It was a cluster of farms, with looms, shippons, and barns. This is the remains of Hartley House, next to Lower Ormerods and East Cottages. If you look at the trees in the distance you can see them appear to be making clouds, it didn't last long.
2. Top side of the reservoirs.
3. Signs of previous occupations litter the site.
4. There is always going to be a fungi bit if possible.
5. And wet bits are never far away, remember, you have to be in it, to wet it.
6. Under that bridge is a fairy, I know as I was just under there.
7. One of the many streams with settlement ponds that feed the reservoirs.
8. For this one I am down in the wet grass, hands up if you have seen a purple one before.
9. Another stream with settlement ponds before it enters the reservoir.
10.The harsh environment on the heights shapes the trees.

Just four permanent residents ... and then there are the outdoor cats that feed on my front porch ... Toby, Wonky, Mischief, Clint, Ozzy (apart from Clint and Ozzy, who are kinda wild, they come inside on cold winter days)... and the coons, Raquel and Arbuckle ... Iggy the squirrel ... Carter, the Blue Jay ... only one dog at the moment; Hope, a deaf, elderly JRT ... of course, Molly, my hunting buddy, spends a lot of time here 'cause her human is real sick.

I like animals .... humans, not so much;):D

Today in Pictures, a day when the clouds threatened to empty its contents, but we managed to get back without incident, although the wind was picking up a speed.

1. This time of year 50% of my pictures are of fungi.
2. Heading down to Dean Clough Reservoir.
3. I have stood here many a time, in the past this area was awash with fungi, this year almost nothing.
4. Home to roost.
5. Standing with the reservoirs to my back.
6. Heading back uphill and through the Pines.
7. For the last few I am down on the floor.
8. The floor of the Pine woods never disappoints, the constant falling needles providing a food source.
9. The colours are very noticeable, despite being under the canopy all of the time.
10. To finish the posting, one I found last time I was here but only at this specific location, and not in any vast numbers.
