It was apparently a very big event so I'm told Frank and it's on next weekend as well. People and dogs from all over - the car next to us in the car park was from Ireland and there was a very big campsite. It's on tomorrow too. And it was free to get in and park for us as visitors!

2 Do I look better from this side?
3 I just love greyhounds
4 A red merle collie
5 Phew! I made it - thank goodness that's over!
6 Paul and Jessie won a prize!
7 Jessie wants to stay up here
8 Just for Davemac - a cockerpoo. Apparently he's a poser just like Bob
9 Dog hotel or prison? You decide

I thought today would be a slow day due to weather, well done all contributers, and now here is mine, stuff you have seen before, only the season has changed.
Part 1. Today in Pictures, towpath revisited.
1. Start point, will I get wet.
2. How does that live there!
3. Steps to a wet experience.
4. Barging about.
5. Does my barge look big in this.
6. Must be a convoy, heres another. Chase me.
7. Looking a bit "dickey".
8. Thats the way I came.
9. Someone fired a starting pistol, hes hiding.

My start point is the bridge on Blackburn Road. C.L.M. then its either a left turn or a right turn. Right takes me to Altham, left takes me to Church. Thats the start point never quite sure my end destination, once you set off the world is your lobster.

No it's an open show run by a local dog training club. Their own website is useless having not been updated since 2010 but browsing the net looking for some info for you I came acros this link

Lune Valley DTC 6 Day Show

From this you can download the schedule and entry form which should give you some idea of what's involved. Apparently they had to cancel yesterday because it was too windy to run.

The rest of my day - the way home. As we drove into Morecambe the sun was shining so I stopped off on the beach for a few pics.

1 Foxgloves by the gatepost on leaving the showground
2 Just to prove we were in the country - taken through the car windscreen
3 The statue on the prom coming into Morecambe from the north
4 Still coming into town
5 On the beach - quite a breeze
6 Sun on the water, distant view of the Yacht Club
7 Sunlight, the Stone Jetty on the horizon
8 A bit closer to the Yacht Club
9 Houses on the prom from the beach. The gap between the houses is the one you can see from the other side from our house, and I took the Olympic flame pics from a point just about outside the house on the very lhs of the photo
10 Seaweed - well I was on the beach!

Ha ha I wondered if someone would ask. It's the yacht club race office, on the prom, overlooking the beach. It's where they start yacht races from, every Sunday, and presumably they like to be up high so they can see what's going on. It's also useful to shelter underneath if you caught on the prom in the rain!

Interesting, would make an interesting shot if it was full underneath with people in the rain, that does men thought that you would get wet taking the picture.

A selection of photos on and around Lake Garda from last June. The first batch of 6 are taken in Sirmione -a promontary at the bottom end of the lake.

I particularly like the photo with the two children playing on the edge of the lake.

The last 4 were taken in my favourite place near the top end of the lake, Gargnano.

no, nor does the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
It must be lovely to live somewhere as beautiful as that.
I magine opening your bedroom curtains and seeing scenes like that...it would make you want to get out and about.
When I looked out on my bedroom window on Saturday morning we had a nicel lake at the bottom of the street......it was full of gravel, bit of leaves and sticks though.... a fetching shade of mucky brown.

11. Following English Heritage location map, I came upon this.
12. Took a few pictures.
13. Not much left is there.
14. Well, you decide!
15. Setting off back, its a bit high up here.
16. The perimeter wall to the field, to the right the pylon used as a ref. point.
17. Is this possibly a perimeter wall?
18. Why is he not worried about the hight.
19. Here we are back at the ford.
20. Back up the lane towards Huncoat Stocks.

What these pictures don't show is myself sliding down a steep slope on my jacksie, or my feet going from underneath myself and landing on my knee and elbow. We get out there, so you don't have to.

He was in an allotment very close to Foxhill bank Nature Reserve.

He was at the top of that path, you can just see the field.

Is peregrinations a type of bird of prey?

Peregrinations are the countries where they all live.

I think that goat is probably a girl. Just cos it has horns and a beard doesn't mean it's not feminine. Billies are usually much heavier shaggier and mean looking. They also smell. That one has a nice smile. You didn't happen to notice whether it had a bag of milk underneath?

Short walk around the park today, so as most shots have been taken before. Just a few random snaps on Today in Pictures.

1. That the way to a private bowling club.
2. If you know this, then you know your onions.
3. Over this four times then its on with the walk.
4. Along this first.
5. Its a leaf.
6. A bramble on my ramble.
7. Ahoy shipmates.
8. Avast behind

thats all I have today.

Tried to post these yesterday but had a very unstable connection and gave up in the end...here's hoping today is better.

These are some photos i took in April in and around the village of Dacre near Lake Ullswater -a lovely backwater with a great pub! My 2nd fave house is the one with the smart topiary!

Love them all but my favourites........and I can't choose between them, have to be the window, and the white house...pic number 5.

Did you come in the Summer we had , the pics are very sunny. Doesn't it make the photos better with a bit of sunlight. I think Margaret is a director ( with shares in Flickr) as she has mentioned to post on Flickr.

Thanks Margaret -the white house is gorgeous, the view up the lane is to the side of it!It has an orchard to other side of it with proper raspberry canes under nets!

It's a close choice between that house and the one I'm posting now which is Water Nook House on Ullswater at Howtown:) (This one is up for sale at the moment -am saving like mad;))

The first 5 were taken in April as i wandered lonely as a cloud:rolleyes: from Pooley Bridge to Howtown - had a picnic on the beach below the house - it's private but i like to flout the rules sometimes! Got me away from the hoardes of Geordies who were everywhere for their Easter hols!

The last one was summer 2 years ago.:hothothot

I know summer has come and gone over there already this year - this was one of the lovely days in April -to prove it I'll post some pics looking across Ullswater beyond Gowbarrow Fell towards Hellvelyn and Striding Edge which are in cloud -where there was snow -there was a real nip in the air!

By the way as i write I'm sweltering and keep moaning about the excessive heat and relentless sunshine here in Italy - we're up at 34°C and it's been like this for 2 weeks -we're due for a torrid spell to start this weekend and it may be going up to 40°C -not pleasant to live in believe me! Much prefer a sunny day in England in April:hothothot

No, I have no professional/financial links with Flickr. I just think it is a good way to showcase these lovely shots. To let others see the beauty of places.
Places that we sometimes take for granted, but that someone elses viewpoint makes us re-assess how lovley our country is.
The other thing is...if your computer ever crashes, and you lose everything - these pics will still be there.

The house does look lovely - I hope you have a very large piggy bank. I don't suppose you would get that at a knock down price.

It would be hard for me to choose....I like the thought of being by water......but I do like the white house....and orchards......they would seal the deal.

Speaking with my Good Life hat on, I think that little white house in the last pic is a chicken house rather than a beehive. It has a nest box on the back with a lift up lid for collecting the eggs and a wire netting run attached to the front.

A beehive would be smaller, with overlapping sides to make it easy to take the sections apart.

Just had another look -i believe you are right! Hadn't really looked at it that carefully before - the wire netting wouldn't keep the beees in!:D

That's a toughie Dave, without any scale to go on and no leaves, at first I thought it was our old friend bistort but I've never seen one open that far.

Got the old floras out and I think it's an orchid. Could be Northern Marsh, though most of the pics on the www are much darker pink.

Teesdale High Force.

Or possibly a hybrid of Northern Marsh and Common Spotted, as per this photo...

There seems to be a lot of hybridisation about - they obviously can't keep their knickers on.

What beautiful greyhounds - my favourite dogs! (Sorry Bob and Max!)

I do love the Hark to Bounty, one of my favourite pubs. Shame it takes so long to get there but it's a lovely drive through the Trough of Bowland. They do a fantastic Friday fish supper with lots of different dishes to choose from, not just fish and chips. It was £5 when we first started going five years ago and it's still only £6.90. Highly recommended. One day we will go and try the rest of the menu!

Hark to Bounty Inn Situated in the Forest of Bowland Area of outstanding natural beauty the Hark to Bounty is the ideal holiday location.

Whatever colour, it's a very smart chicken house, probably for really posh chickens. They probably lay ready-boiled eggs.:p

I am not sure where I am going wrong, but I am just not seeing them, even when I am out doing a family taxi job they just pass me by. I carry my camera when I think there might be one.

I will have to stop wearing a balaclava and dark glasses, I think its a hindrance.

Dave, you are too kind, many thanks for that. Took my k over 9000!

I do enjoy a challenge and that was a good one. I think the clues to its being an orchid was the shape of the petals at the bottom and the spots, but I'm not really that clued up about them.

Anyway, it was a good find on your part.

I must say I feel a bit the same. Here in Morecambe we get gorgeous sunsets but they are usually at their best low down, on the horizon, which is very difficult to see from our house because of all the other houses around. I'm not often out on the prom at that time of night. We don't often get the cloud colour high in the sky, and for that I have to go up to our attic storey and look through the skylight. So, photos of Morecambe sunsets are a rarity for me.

7) Big fat hip - not ready for eating yet(for the birds, I mean).
8) Round the bend - my walk along the canal.
9) Woodbine - the flower, not the fag.

I walked from Blackburn road in Clayton......to the Pilkington Bridge.(there is a rumour that part of my husbands family had a hand in the rebuilding of this structure in 1936,but it is only a rumour).
Met Davemac along the way...and the delightful Bob.......was suggested I come back on the other side of the canal.......so that is what I did....ended up on the Sefton estate...a bit lost, warm and moist from my walk...in need of refreshment.Eventually followed the sound of the traffic and wended my way home.

1) down the steps to the other side...of the canal that is
2) My last bit of a trudge is all downhill...to home and a cuppa(sigh)

Sometimes the files are too big, it uploads files up to 500kb for jpeg, have you tried resizing the photos, apologies if you have already considered this.
