Olympus VR-340 Smart 3D Camera Red 16MP 10xZoom 3.0LCD: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

It's the same as the one Frank has just got though goes by a different model number for some reason.

It's red... yes I know but I'm a girl (well was once) and it matches my laptop - no not my eyes!

Frightening how easy it is - just one click and I've got camera, case, spare battery and memory card on the way. Whoopee!

I got mine at Comet roughly the same price

Its just practice, and getting lucky with the droplets, and the light in the right direction. We get plenty of time to practice.

Had a look at the Comet website earlier - not a singe Olympus camera to be seen, and I can't get to their store.

If I go through a special link on their website, by buying it at Amazon I am benefiting the funds of a choral society I used to belong to before I moved up here so I like to use them if the price is right.

These are out at the moment ... one of my favourites.

Love some of the 'myths' behind the naming of this flower. I must have a sick sense of humour .... found myself having to cross my legs when I read this one ..... :D:D

'In 15th-century Germany, it was supposed that the wearers of the flower would not be forgotten by their lovers. Legend has it that in medieval times, a knight and his lady were walking along the side of a river. He picked a posy of flowers, but because of the weight of his armour he fell into the river. As he was drowning he threw the posy to his loved one and shouted "Forget-me-not." It was often worn by ladies as a sign of faithfulness and enduring love.'

I know out of focus. :(

Thank you, I was surprised how different they all turned out. I tried the technique on my sunflower avatar picture but it turned out like the moths had been at it - lots of black holes in the petals, not a pretty sight!

Can we please keep the photos to a minimum size and about say 5 per day this section is using a lot of server space up fast.
so please cut down
put your photos in rows accross the page not down the page
thanks for your help with this.

I have been waiting for this announcement for some time. Doesn't come as a surprise.

Mick, think you might need to post a tutorial on how to do what you ask as some people don't seem to have the knack. On the other hand, I can't work out how they do what they do either!

Do you mean five photos in total per day on the thread or per person?

A new member on a different thread(about the regeneration of the Woodnook area) asked how to post pictures...I posted instructions, and gave a couple of screen shots to help them work out how to post thumbnails.

Yes I saw that Margaret, well done. I asked Frank why his pics always came out in a column rather than row and he didn't know, perhaps he should look at that post and see what he can do.

I know when I first joined I struggled to work out how to post pics as thumbnails....and Len very kindly sent me a step by step instruction list...so I was only repaying the favour.
I can't remember how on earth I posted pics that took up almost a full page... I did, but only the once.

Anyway - will have to stop playing - my new toy has just arrived!! Only ordered Sunday evening! Can't believe how tiny it is - and it's very RED.
Don't expect anything for a while - I have to RTFM first (read the f....... manual) before I can safely ignore it....

thanks for your help with this.

could you please expand on this comment as I always reduce my pictures down to 500kb or less, but I do post more than what you are I think recommending.
Can I still post ten per page in reduced size or are you saying it should now be five ?

I also noticed you havent posted your day in pictures, whats the possibility ?

Thanks Dianne - it's very easy to play with.

It's a free editing software which you can download from various sources. Just Google PhotoScape and see what comes up... Nothing to do with Flickr, which I'm not interested in.

Will have a look see!

Just seen I wrote "Flicka" -who is of course a horse!:D

Perhaps we could try and persuade Mick to allow us 10 photos a day which is what the attachments pop-up is geared to - resizing them beforehand of course....I only learned to do that recently!

I could have posted twice as much, but until I get an answer to my question will keep it within reason.

No need to thank me for the plugs.

The colour isolation shots are as I have said, a technique all your own, and it comes with an eye for spotting a picture suitable for the process.

What do you think of this method. If you are interested in the picture click it and it opens flickr in the new window/tab and thats the same as I do anyway with accyweb attachments.... Its a lot of messing about for some. The bb code editing is easy though. It is just a case of taking away a couple of lines

10 per person per day is fine if you do them like Davemac as thumbnails so when you click on them they open

There is that. But for me personally I don't think I will be removing any pics as what I upload there I intend to keep on there. Then again I don't add 10-20 pics a day like Dave. He is a keen photographer :)

Then again. If Yahoo decide to do to flickr what they did with geocities(grrrrrrR), I think a very large portion of the internet will end up with a lot of blank spaces :D

Thankyou - five a day would be hard to stick to - when you're used to twenty or thirty...we'd all risk withdrawal symtoms.

We are addicted, like smokers to their fags!!:o:D

Fair enough - I'm sure everyone will take note, we don't want to give you too much work to do either. I'm sure you have enough already keeping on top of all us lot!:D

Whilst ten a day is a small number to display your "Today in Pictures" especially if you have been out and about, I will abide by the recommendations.
Should at any time you think we could increase the number then hopefully you will get back to us

Dave...maybe display ten on here and post a link to the rest on your Flickr page...those who want to see what you have been up to will surely visit...and it will do your viewing figures no harm at all.

A few pics of my lovely cat Rufus who is sadly no longer with us. The tree outside my house was his favourite spot.

Note Milly peeping out from under the curtain at the door! She is still with us and is 10.

Milly is the big white/Tortoise-shell cat.

The little ginger and white cat was Chloe.

Are you sure Rufus isn't related to the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland? A real cat - ginger - my favourite kind. We had one once and recently our neighbours here had one - he was always in our garden and one night he turned up in our bedroom about 2 am! sadly he got squashed on a nearby road - he was only young.

Was Chloe related to Rufus? It's rare to see a female with ginger markings.

Have posted the pic below previously - today it's just for you...

I Love Rufus....I used to have a ginger stray cat that visted me......well, he almost lived with us...and he was the loveliest cat ever...very affectionate.
One day I will have a ginger kitten(he says NO WAY - but I will).

Good idea, although I am always a little behind on my flickr uploads, I have a folder on my desktop with 48 pictures in at the moment awaiting perusal and posting. Although I think a link as you said would assist.
On a separate note Flickr: f.griggs' Photostream Is someone we all know, hope he doesn't mind the link.

Today in Pictures is a minuscule contribution, not due to the upload limit, more the time I had available, perhaps tomorrow!

1. I think it is a type of willow herb, to busy to identify properly.
2. Well what can I say about this, its a fluffy kitten, having dinner.

No 1 looks like Rose Bay Willow Herb, I used to call it Bomb weed. When I went to Manchester or Salford it would be growing where jerry bombs had demolished buildings during the blitz's of the 1940's .

How did you manage that, its a free account until you post 200 pictures then older pictures fall off the screen, unless you divvy up. But your account defo says Pro, is that jammy or what.

Dont think its rose bay, I know the rose bay, and this was growing in the water on the canal side, I am guessing its willow herb only by the flowers.

No definitely not a willow herb, completely different family, it's purple loosestrife, Lythrum salicaria (which means willow-like leaves!). Common garden plant and likes wet places and ponds. I had some in my pond once...

Thought it was that when I saw the pic but had to trail up to the attic room to get my book out to be sure!

Willow herbs/fireweed/bombweed have flowers hanging from the stalks by short stems not right next to the stem like this one.

Flowers of the purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria), taken in July in Devon, England

Rosebay willowherb on Aarhus campus, at Richard's mOblOg

If Frank has his internet throught BT(which I suspect he does) then a pro account is free unless you move providers....then you have to stump up.

Ha ha notice the untidy mutt doesn't close the drawer after himself!

Reminds me of a pub we used to go to - one of the regulars used to bring his labrador and the person behind the bar would open the door under the bar counter. The dog would go behind the bar and help himself to a bag of crisps from the box on the floor and bring it back out into the room. But he never worked out how to open the crisps and his owner had to do it for him! the dog then proceeded to eat the crisps all over the floor!

I think he may have been a Cheshire cat -he was tuly the loveliest natured and sweetest cat we've ever had -and I've had quite a few over 25 years. He was rescued by my husband as a tiny little thing from stream nearby the farm all tangled in brambles. Shortly after him Misha arrived -almost pure Siamese with gorgeous blue eyes -they were completely in love and crazy about each other -to be seen - but i never took any pics of them together for some reason. We think she got stolen as she disappeared one day without a trace... I had 4 cats in the house for a while then -no trouble though.

Now it's just Milly and Teo -I've said I dont want any others as I get too attached... Chloe was not related to Rufus -came from the cattery -my son brought her when i was upset about Rufus. She brought a nasty virus with her which nearly killed the other two as they weren't vaccinated -Teo went into kidney failure and after 3 days in intensive care we saved her - I learned to put her on an intravenous drip and did it for 2 months till she was out of danger -a year on she's still here and Chloe isn't -she's 17 and made of stern stuff.

Sorry for the saga of my cats -they really are like family!:o

Will post a few pics now to keep on thread!

No cats here at the moment as we lost the last two at 17. I've learnt to live with it -or rather without one. When we lived in the country we never had our cats vaccinated - but you do run a risk if you introduce another one from outside which we did on a few occasions fortunately without mishap.

2 Same day tree in front of house it's a Gerstroemia (pink flowers in summer)
3 English Oak tree near Pooley Bridge
4 Trees inside the stone circe Long Meg ad her sisters near Lakes(can't remember what they were - possibly Walnut!)
5 Plane tree (I think!) near Bolton Abbey.
