Speedwell - Veronica chamaedrys
Playing With Flowers forget me not
Different shade of blue, different shape leaves. Same family, but also there are several different kinds of speedwell.

When we came here there was lots of speedwell, very weedy. Now the garden is full of forget me nots, they follow me everywhere. The speedwell has all but gone.

I have found the setting, its the sunsets I cant find, it was raining here when you said you were taking the sunsets. I suspect it was just over this house to thwart my attempts, and its not the first time I've been thwarted.

Nice pics on that site Dave but don't seem to be in any particular order, alphabetical or botanical, so you may end up trawling through them all to find what you want.

Thurston worked at the brick yard on Enfield Rd, he was a Model Engineer, his projects can be seen in Ossy Mills, they are in glass display cases, he also made a brick clay model of part of Clayton. Thurston also made a working model of a brick making machine, where that is now I don't know.

I was so pleased they have salvaged that mosaic, although does need a little bit of attention.

Love the new garden area too .... except the stone benches.. :D Mind you so little fat on me bum at the moment, can't sit on the wooden ones for very long... lol.

The mosaic is lovely Kate...very colourful. The grass hasn't quite grown over the bare bits of ground yet, but it is a lovely area.
If you want some padding for you BTM....I can let you have some of mine.
Though I'm not entirely sure how I would get it to you.
Second thoughts...do as Jen says Take a cushion- and an umbrella :D

Well, I'll go to the bottom of our stairs .... could have sworn they were stone slabs for seats ....ok, who switched them ?

Here's some pictures of this new garden area taken just now. Still looks pretty in the rain, and the rain doesn't half make the grass look an amazing colour of green :

Lovely pics Kate...I must admit I thought the seats were stone too...shows how much notice I took when I was snapping away.
Mind you it was coming on to rain and I was using my new camera - I hate getting the camera wet.

I will treat that remark with the contempt it deserves...and it is no good trying to hide behind a wall. I don't get mad...I get even! :)

My day started early - the first two pics are 4.30am, through the loo window. I waited for a seagull to come into shot, but none obliged so I went back to bed.

The third picture was at 12 noon today.

Edit - I think there might be a seagull in the second picture - either that or some dirt on the lens!
In the third picture, the white clouds at the bottom are where the Lake District mountains should be!

thats dedication, have you tried a piece of bread on the end of a fishing pole, you should get plenty of birds then. Next time you are on the seafront, give it a go

A piece of bread on the garden wall usually suffices, Dave. Just think it was a bit early for them - it certainly was for me!

I have a donut shape cushion goes everywhere with me at the moment. Fits nicely in a Morrison's shopper - and they have nice pictures on the side too so looks OK when you're carrying it about.

No neighbours on that side Dave, only the car park - and the window is three floors up! It's the little one in the pic on the side of the house next to the soil pipe - the only window in the house that actually faces the sea, though you can see the sea from the back windows at an angle - but only in the winter when there are no leaves on the trees!

Ok...so here is my day. We went off to Bury. On the way back(because it was such a lovely day...and I wanted a hunk of peace just for myself) I got off the bus at Ramsbottom to take pictures. I had such a lovely time...I was grinning from ear to ear all the way home by myself. Yes.....I know. I'm easily pleased.
So here are some pictures of the day out.
1) the bus to Bury (I cheated a bit here...took this when I got back).
2) Railway sign For Ramsbottom.
3) Train going round the bend.
4) Do we really need all this luggage? - We're only going for the day!
5)The Bucket family - Ma, Pa and teen bucket - except they say it 'bookay'.
6) The Peel monument. This was taken from the footbridge over the railway.
7) We'll never get all this luggage on two bikes.
8) Enjoying fish and chips in the open air. They smelled divine...beef dripping and vinegar. I was tempted.
9) He's escaped. Don't worry he'll be back because he's left his bag(it has his 'snap' in it).
10)The Blue Lamp...can't you just hear the Dixon of Dock Green music?

Hope you like them.

Part 2. Today in pictures, lets have a look over there.

11. I heard water just over the wall, lets follow it uphill.
12. How did that get there, and how long ago.
13. Well, look at that, lets go up a bit.
14. I have to get closer to that, my socks are still dry.
15. I can feel the spray on my face, I never knew this was here.
16. Right, further up we go.
17. OK. if I had four legs I would be first up the hill.
18. I found a clutch of Orchids.
19. Must be near the top by now.
20, Well, its like being on the Moon.

Part 3. Today in Pictures, Planting the flag, I made it.

21. I found ayers rock, it looks smaller close up.
22. I don't know, but it was a long time ago.
23. We wandered lonely as a.
24. This must be the top, time for the down bit.
25. This down bit looks a bit "down"
26. Never spotted this on the way up, mind you I was gasping for breath and on all fours.
27. Do you have to stand in the dirty bits.
28. I'm going as fast as I can.
29. A bracket fungi.
30. I think this is a slime mould.

That concludes todays excursion, I now require a lie down in a dark room.
