I'm sure the camera will have it, but it can also be done later, I leave the camera wb set to auto then do adjustments in Lightroom.

Turns out adjusting white balance on a jpeg isn`t very effective (compared to RAW), so just to show what a difference getting it right can make these are a few old night pics of mine with different settings.
1. Cameras auto WB 2. Custom WB (set with eyedropper in LRoom) 3. A few more adjustments, contrast, clarity, exposure etc. |

I agree with Eric. On this cold, snowy typically Canadian winter day, it's best to hunker down and enjoy indoor pursuits - starting by making a fuss of our furry friends. There's a chicken roasting in the oven, Miss Pris is ticked off that I'm not spending enough time with her, (she's looking quite fluffy in the tummy!) and the ongoing hallway renovation is well, ongoing. Stripping off the old wallpaper revealed a Valentines Day message from 20 years ago - don't remember who painted it, me or hubby. It doesn't matter. Last week the thermometer got below minus thirty. it's not that cold right now, thank goodness. Oh I almost forgot, Mr. and Mrs. Goose plant themselves every day at the bottom of my feeder. I'm glad to give them a bit of grub.
Cheers, all! |

Came back down Royds Street and then cut left along Hudson Street, I hadn't realised the scope of the work being done to modernise the area. I used to live at #5 Hudson and was surprised to see that and all the other properties have been knocked back to bare shells. |
Re: Today in pictures
I hope the Priestley Clough area is cleaned up for people to enjoy, although I can only surmise how it looks now by using Google Earth and viewing photos taken by Accy Webbers. There seems to be a lot of industrial stuff around the old Rothwell House.
|
Re: Today in pictures
That was a poor choice of words on my part. Of course the area has a rich industrial history, and this should be preserved wherever practical to do so, in my opinion. But what I was referring to was the modern business activity of some sort that seems to surround the old house.

Today in Pictures, it was wet, there was snow in the rain and a wind that blew it through the clothes, champion.
1. The rear entrance to Plantation House, and to the left was the greenhouses and outbuildings. 2. This would have been the tradesmen's entrance and delivery access. 3. All that remains of the style that gave access to Plantation Mill for the workers, a gate was across the lane. 4. The wall slits that were used to slide in the boards to slow the water that I think was about to power the waterwheel. 5. There are random walls dotted around the place, but this would have been in the best area to locate the wheel in my opinion. 6. Then the water headed down hill to merge with the lodge water. 7. I surmise the wheel would have been located between the top outflow and this one. 8. So downhill it goes. 9. Here we are at the outflow from the four lodges located further uphill. 10. With that it was time to head back to the car as everything that could be wet, is wet. |

What a difference a day makes, today was a blue skies day. Spring Woods, so as you would expect from a woods, its full of wood, well you would wouldn't you.
1. Still in its winter mode, with hints of Autumn in places. 2. Underfoot there are the green shoots that mark spring is coming, but up above no movement. 3. From this angle you could be in various places around the world. 4. The path off to the right has signs of heavier usage, large pebbles(cobbles) laid as a track. 5. A this point not a cloud in the sky. 6. The higher points have the more mature trees. 7. just a few more trees. 8. Reaching the highest point of the woods, a seat is waiting. 9. A distant view of Hameldon, Moleside, the Coppice is behind the tree. 10. Same direction just a bit lower down the hill. |

These were taken before, during and after a "clay run" - a trip to the pottery supply company to get supplies. The weather was bright and sunny, but quite cold with a stiff wind.
You'll notice that most of them were taken through the car window. I wasn't about to stop to get out, given that the shoulders of the road were deep in snow. We passed a couple of unfortunate souls who had ventured too close to the side of the road and got stuck. Back at the guild and later at home, I did get my hands cold to get a couple of snow shadow shots. |

Today in Pictures, a bit of a disappointment.
1. The now empty signal box. 2. Heading down to the wet bit of Huncoat Colliery. 3. The water is at a higher level due to it snowing earlier and melting almost straight away. 4. A bit of a pinch point. 5. Very soon the hill side should be covered in Bluebells. 6. Time for a right turn and leave the wet bit behind. 7. This is the disappointing bit, scramble bikes are using the entire area to ride around, and are ruining the area as a consequence, riding through the bluebell areas, churning up the footpaths, and making deep ruts after many bikes have gone through in wet conditions. 8. Pendle Hill in the distance. 9. Back lit Burdock. 10. And finally I have no idea what this is about, its a way from the paths, and has the name Mrs Clough in shiny things on the side |

Today in Pictures, a walk between Grane Road and Jamestone Quarry, complete with a biting wind that was cold enough to give you that brain freeze that you get with ice cream.
1. Grane Road is between me and Ogden Reservoir. 2. You would expect that to come down in high winds. 3. Climbing the hill. 4. Looking back across the road to Calf Hey and Ogden Reservoirs. 5. This is as far up the hill as I can go, the quarry fence is just over the wall. 6. The road is hiding behind the mound, but Ogden Reservoir and further over is Musbury Heights, a place I have ascended to many times. 7. Almost at the edge of this Quarry. 8. From my windswept vantage point I am looking down on Troy Quarry(its between the trees) another place I have visited on a number of occasions. 9. This is the quarry zoomed in a bit. 10.Having returned almost to my starting point a quick scoot around the other edge of Jamestone Quarry, the water really is that turquoise colour perhaps its due to the activity still in the quarry, they are quarrying stone and making it into road-stone. |

Today in Picture, we are off to see Jeppe Knave, after putting on the style.
1. Its a gated community. 2. Walls as far as the eye can see, if you squint 3. You can always find a wet bit if you are really trying. 4. You can walk for ages and it looks like you haven't moved. 5. I'll get a nose bleed going over there. 6. Its the trig point overlooking Pendleton Moor. 7. Its all a bit moist when you kneel down for a snap, underfoot its sphagnum and a peaty substance that will give up its moisture to pressure. 8. All walls lead to a style at some point. In the distance Clitheroe. 9. Almost at Jeppes, these styles can be a killer, its the last time I come on a horse. 10. Here we are, a man with a fascinating story, still told after all these years, not many of us will be able to say that. The link gives the story. https://www.flickr.com/photos/davema...-h5ZJku-kNyw3i |

For those who don't know Martholme Viaduct is a 19th-century Viaduct constructed between 1870–77 between Gt Harwood and Read.It has ten round arches, each 40ft high (12 m wide) and at its highest point over the river calder it is 65 feet high. The line was closed for use around 1957 an it is a designated Grade II listed building (walking over it is prohibited ;))..........Plenty more pics being uploaded to my photobucket account too.....Enjoy. Today in Pictures, walking around the wet bits.
1.This is where the flow of water from the four reservoirs on the coppice would have fed the industry around Plantation Mill. 2. The last in the series, from here it was channelled into the mill. 3. Next to last, this fed the bottom one. 4. This channel ran passed number three and flowed into number four, but three flowed into it from the side. 5. Looking down the channels as it flows into the last reservoir. 6. Number three reservoir. 7. Making use of all that water for frog spawn. 8. Away from the water, and looking over to Spire Farm. 9. Time to sit and bask in the Spring sunshine. 10. A time for reflection. |
