And so it comes to an end, as all good things must do! Our last proper day in Denmark before the journey back to the land of daily grind!
That being the case we stayed local & traipsed around the Island of Tasing & the lower half of Langeland. Once more an idyllic little thatched cottage on Tasing - Capes Hoj Neolithic burial mound - The little fishing harbour at St.Joul, Tasing, looking towards the Langelands road bridge - Memorial to the crew of the RAF Short Stirling "EF 137" which was shot down by a night fighter & crashed into the shallow waters off the East coast of Tasing by Vemmenaes - Then off to Bagenkop on Langeland for a snap of the Church - The Wild "Exmoor" Ponies of Bagenkop - And their Cousins :D - The Baltics supposed to be calm! - A nose round Rudkobing - And a little two master coming into Spodsbjerg harbour. |
Re: Today in pictures

Newquay......not been down there for quite a few years.
I always loved that little bit of land with the house on top......would have loved to have lived there. Some beautiful pictures and they have brought back some happy memories of times down there.....though not the one where the seagull dropped a bum bomb on Ma's best navy blue coat.. It was ruined despite my best efforts. |

Pontiac Firebird 350 - VW Kübelwagen - A couple of Stingrays - Chevrolet Camero SS - Corvette & a Ford Angla (worlds apart) - Mettalic blue leather??? - A proper oldtimer - MG - Triumph 255 i - After dawdling & not being able to make the ferry we took the road route "One & one's spouse stopped at the Aabenraa Yacht club dontcherknow, for a spot of late luncheon!" & this was the view over the Fjord.(Me being the peasantry I am, I had the burger menu though, Marion showed more class & took a multiple fish option :D) |

Today is a departure in that "dads taxi" was brought into service again. Winfields sponsored a charity walk for the Rossendale Hospice and I snapped a few of the Winfields entrants and a few more. You will notice Ted Robbins in a few of the pictures, I didn't, I was that focused on the fancy dressed entrants I missed him altogether and only noticed him when he had been uploaded.

A few cell phone pics from the last couple of weeks... I've been busy with various things, and never seemed to have a camera with me. Still, I made some attempts, but often seemed to miss what I was shooting for!
1. Can you see the Chipmunk? He's feasting on Service Berries. 2. The Heron Got Away. 3. Something got away from Miss Pris too (another chipmunk I think( 4. Hubby failing to find a Geocache (lots of raspberry canes though) 5. Neighbour's bunny stays very still - unlike the many wild ones I've seen but not captured with my camera yet. 6. Miss P says "Stop taking my photo or I'll swipe you one!" 7. Fairy Lake - another failed Geocache attempt. 8. Reflections of a clothesline 9. Ditto |

Thank you Frank! You're the 'king of reflections', so I'm well complimented :)
Davemac: yes, it's nice and warm over here right now. It's going up to 29 or so today, although with a risk of thunderstorms. Fortunately I can get most anything I need to do, done in the morning when it's cooler, then retreat to an AC cooled house for the rest of the day. Still, it's weather like this that makes winter bearable for me :) |

Today was a walk around my number 1 place and although it is just outside the borough it is in places only yards away. Calf Hey Reservoir leading to Musbury Heights before a ricochet off Lower Ogden Reservoir then back to Calf Hey. You will notice from the pictures that the walk also included dramatic changes in altitude but as I don't do selfies I am unable to show you the red colour I went followed by a blue colour.

I took Aunty out today to her favourite park over here: Gairloch Gardens in Oakville. It was too hot for her to venture out of the car, (29 degrees and very humid) so we sat in air conditioned comfort (with the engine running) and chatted for a bit. Just seeing the lake (Lake Ontario) was somewhat cooling.
Back home in Georgetown afterwards I stopped at the potters guild to load a kiln, and spotted these scented beauties outside. Are they scented phlox? I don't know much about them myself. |

It's a scary thought, that. About the days getting shorter, I mean. The 'greens' over here are starting to look a little tired. We are just on the cusp of tipping over into the decline that leads into autumn. Nooooooooooo!!! I'm not ready for it yet :(

The plan for today was planes, planes and more planes, but with a sunrise like this mornings I couldn`t not put one in.
House points for ID`s 1. This mornings red sky. 2. One from yesterday at RAF Leeming. 3. Double gold stars for first to ID this one. 4 & 5. That`s a big un. 6. New and old Battle of Britain T......s 7. New one on it`s own. 8. Just flying over. 9 & 10. My first sighting of one of these. |

Good days plane spotting there GP24. :) |
Re: Today in pictures
Looking like a SU 35 gpick?
|
Re: Today in pictures
Go to the top of the class and give out the pencils Dave, although I have them as Herc, SU-30 Flanker, C-17 (both from Indian Air Force), Typhoons, Chinook & Tornado. A good day indeed, but if i`d hung on a while, there was also four F-16`s that I missed.
|
Re: Today in pictures
Shame about missing the F16's & yes you're right about the SU30 not much between the 30/34 & the big transport is the C17 (knowing the nationality helps as you can check their active aircraft list), still, don't mind being corrected when there's those pics to view. :)

Today was a day that can only be described as extreme, when on the top the clouds descended with heavy rain and visibility vanished. Coming off the tops was like the descent in an airplane, total cloud then a glimpse of the ground, then dropping below it altogether. The up side to this was I had to take a path I had not used before just to get off the top, which resulted in the discovery of a mountain stream, and that reminded me of an advert for menthol cigarettes, but I will return when the weather is not as pants as it was today.

For the more observant of you, you'll be aware we've moved (a glance in the location box) we're still in "Bier & Bratwurst" land but a more gentrified area, leafy suburb & no scuzzbuckets (except us :D). Don't think the neighbours have clocked us yet but the signs are there see for yourself! ;)
We've also got a mass of bestiary here abouts, here's a few from throughout the week enjoy. Our House, out front - the mungous lawn that took me near on 2 hours to mow yesterday - Our house, out back - The Mongit (looking suitable put upon) by the ever play ready Niggy - Mrs Tiggywinkles German cousin (I know it's a bit fuzzy but the little scallywags can't half put a shift on) - A Field Hare that came & made itself comfortable in the garden Wednesday evening - A Wood Mouse on our rubble pile (renovations) rockery - So we gave it some nibbles - We've got "Furrys" at the bottom of the garden, noisily grappling their nuts! (from the 2 hazelnut trees) - Only 1 Beer tonight :( as tomorrow's a School day (Aye, it's a 1Ltr can :D). |
Re: Today in pictures
Looks very commodious.
I like the wild life you have in your garden....it is far too posh to call a backyard. Great pics son....More please and a blog about the move might just be welcome reading. How you came to move....More about the house etc. I am not nosey...Just curious(that is the posh word for nosey) |
