Out & about terrorising ..... sorry, touring Europe at present so the piccies will tend to be more "Yesterday in pics" as the more normal today! :D

Wanted to visit Friedrichshafen "Zeppelin Museum" yesterday but the town had an open day & it was heaving, spent an hour driving round trying to find a way into the harbour & a place to park, in the end we gave it up as a bad job & went elsewhere.

Meersburg am Bodensee, jumped on the ferry across to Konstanz, through to Kreuzlingen Switzerland, along the bodensee shore line on the Swiss side to Rorschac, across to St.Gallen airport/Altenrhein. then round to Bregenz in Austria & back out into Germingland & Home, busy day to say the least. :)

Meersburg ferry terminal - Our shiny new jallopy with Witchy one - One of several Zeppelins doing tours above the Bodensee - Witch & Bitch On ferry to Konstanz - Bodensee & Swiss Alps - "Hundertwasser house" x2 - A De Havilland vampire as a roundabout ornament??? - "Hundertwasser" again - Vampire & Hundertwasser

A few random snaps from the past month...
It's been a very hot, humid summer so far with very little rain. Any excursions are taken early morning, if possible, followed by a hasty retreat to air conditioned comfort. I did venture down to the nearby ponds, and was pleasantly surprised to find a dearth of mosquitos! Only got one bite.

My patio garden is coming on like gangbusters, but I have to water it at least once daily. This year's Morning Glory is much better than last year's when I got no flowers at all.

Miss Pris was suspicious of the Catnip that I'd grown for her, begged for more dinner (typical!) and chillaxed in her lounger.

Lastly, a wild turkey surprise.

Often called the river stink, it is far from that description now, the weir that you see in the pictures has been observed having sea trout migrating up the river. I have also seen trout both swimming and being caught further upstream near the Dunkenhalgh, Kingfishers have also been seen by myself as well but only as a flash of turqoise.

Another mixed lot from this month:

The wild raspberries were very small from lack of rain, but we still managed to make a few jars of jam; a couple of roadside shots (everything looks green, but with little rain all month its really quite dry); Gairloch Gardens in Oakville with my late Aunt's favourite bench in the rose garden, some very strange plants (at least to my eyes) and Lake Ontario (I was hoping for some cool breezes but didn't get any that day. Lastly a trail I must take a walk along - someday - when the mozzies have died down.

It made a mighty fine noise, and if you take a peak inside it looks like the "lady" in the passenger seat is picking the drivers nose.

No, didn`t see them dive, there were quite a few flying about with gulls and there was also another kind of bird floating on the sea that dived under the water, but it was difficult getting pics with the boat up and down all the time.

It is a shame that they don't seem to be having a photo comp at the Library this year. That number 9 picture would be a worthy shot for such a comp.

I do put pics on Flickr, they don`t really get many views though.

I have just had a look at your pics....they are fantastic. I will be looking in from time to time.
I sometimes get lots of views other times not so much...but I have had quite a number of requests to use my pictures for brochure, publications and the like.

I have seen them down Rishton bottoms, but I have never been quick enough to capture a shot...and certainly not one as good as that one.

Thanks Dave, I`ve seen them around that area a few times now, there was one on that perch when I arrived (might have been same one) but I scared it off. So plonked myself down where I hoped it wouldn`t see me and waited for it to come back.

I just noticed I put god spot instead of good spot, anyway I dont have the patience to sit and wait and thats how some of the best shots are captured. I am guessing the spot is close to that brick tunnel as that is where I have seen the flashes of colour myself.

Quite a bit further round towards rishton than that, if you go under motorway bridge, coming from church (watch out for the broken glass for doggies paws) and follow the path there's a field to your right, usually full of cows, at the far end of the field is where I got these.
Been down again tonight and seen them all along that stretch up to motorway bridge, unfortunately they saw us and didn't hang around.

Some pics from different days this week.

1. A foggy morning in Yorkshire.
2 & 3. Daisy and Duke scaring off the Kingfishers.
4. They didn`t help either.
5. A wild rabbit in the horses pen.
6-10. Kept them a bit quieter tonight, at least until after after I`d got these.

I love number one and yet again you have captured the Kingfishers beautifully.

I am really, really envious.
I am far too slow to catch them with my camera. I think I would have to construct a hide and sit there for a couple of days to get pics like those.

Feel free to use the one I made with some junk I found lying around down there. It`s the first time i`ve seen it from this side, I think it might need a few more branches.

Silly season is here again, Hurrah! That marvellous Krauty celebration known as "Oktoberfest" (celebrated in September??? Yeah go figure that one out) so being the culturalist that I is, I went & got some cultural enhancement in some rather large helpings! :D

This is where we was (Excuse fuzziness but it was the last piccy on the night & I swear it looked just fine to me when I took it :D) - Posh frocks all round - Early doors - 'Ere I've been Oompahed & Jodelled again! - On my best behaviour & small Beers (However that was due to change shortly thereafter ) - Ah the heart of the "Bier zelt - Oh deary me, the normally stolid, serious & respectable Germings! A couple more & they'll be singing the "Horst Wessel" & Marching Eastwards! (x2) - Ah! Not on my best behaviour, there's that big Beer (1ltr pot) & I'm working on that impressive beer belly (as modelled by Mr Lincoln there!).

Surely the answer is simple? It's called "Oktoberfest" because you drink gallons in September and contemplate your actions and the consequences whilst suffering a month long hangover in October.🍺

You have it in September because you have to stay sober in October.....or that's what they say on the TV advert.

Beggar the krauts, just don't try telling me that!
As someone that chooses to suffer a permanent hangover I consider that October like any other month I should drink to capacity, I could not have on my conscience the amount of unemployment I would cause if I took a day off never mind the melt down of our economy if I were to take a whole month off!

IN PICTURES: Do you remember these 20 lost pubs of Accrington? (From Lancashire Telegraph)

The above was the result of going for a day out in Blackpool, what would occur if for one twelfth of the year I was to go missing?
