Wanted to go to Leeuwarden AFB Air display today, headed over there & the weather was atrocious for flying displays & the hassle & stress to get to the show ....... nightmare, so we went across to Harlingen instead. After a wander round the town we came back over leeuwarden & managed to snag a few snaps.

Sailing ships off the coast of Harlingen in the haze - Witch & the Bitch at the Beach, Harlingen - Harlingen rail terminal, harbour & lighthouses - "Fat Albert" (Hercules C130) heading to the display - F16 "Fighting Falcons" over the coast - PAF (Patrouillie Acrobatique de France) flying Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jets doing their thing - B-25 Mitchell Bomber of (x2) - (A very hazy & heat distorted) Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II.

If you bought a "Bratty" at that Bratty stand you were robbed! 4 quid for a Bratty! Absolutely shocking! You can get a "Curry & chips" with Mayo or Ketchup for €4.50 here. :D

The "Curry" is short for Currywurst, a Bratty sliced & smothered in curry ketchup with a dusting of curry powder & the "Mayo" is nothing like your Hellmans. Surprisingly, it all works rather well. :D

As to this Poutine malarkey, I'd probably give it a go after a few scoops! ;)

Lovely shots Russell.
I love Anglesey.
Did you get a chance to visit Plas Newydd....the residence of the Marquess of Angelsey.
The house is fantastic and has a good exhibition of militaria from the Napoleonic wars....and the Battle of Waterloo.
The Marquis of Angelsey from that time, lost a leg at the battle of Waterloo and he was the first man in the world to have an articulated prosthetic leg....wooden of course.
There is also a fantastic trick of the eye mural by Rex Whistler.
The gardens are beautiful and the views from the grounds are spectacular.

I should tell you that I don't get paid for promoting the place :)......I just love it!

We never got to see Plas Newydd Margaret but it's on the agenda for the next visit first week in September. My friend's brother lives on Angelsey and we have an open invitation to stay anytime.
He's part way through restoring and old house he lives in. It is a fantastic place with sea views. We got around a lot though and had good weather.
We will be back at Bourne next week until we feel like coming back. Once her house there is sold that will be the last time we go there.
That's the view from our bedroom at her brothers, next to my car is an area which hasn't been gravelled yet and in front of that is the start of the summer house.

glad to hear it is on your list of things to see and do......it is well worth a visit.

Not been up to much on my time off work. Just enjoying not being there! I am on my second week off....

1-5 Went to Blackpool on my birthday to see how my longtime friend is doing. Hes been in rehab for quite some time and was just released into supported housing. Don't want to get into too much detail about that, other than it was great for me and my friends to get together and all be sober and enjoy each others company. We went to fleetwood where i snapped a few....

6 Visited another friend to help with his computer. This is his dog Benji. Love this little dude!

7-8 Well what to say. It has been incredibly humid and I left my window open all night. Looked up at the window this morning and saw this!

I was told cameras were not allowed at Penrhyn castle so left the big DSLR back at Marlene's brothers. Then when we got there they said it was OK if we didn't use flash. I had a pocket Panasonic with me but it had to have a slow shutter speed to get pictures in the gloom. A lot were a bit out of focus. I'll know next time.

Firstly, I'd like to say that I've been following the Referendum with great interest, and while I don't feel qualified to weigh in on the subject, I feel proud of the outcome and the courage of my Accrington friends, however they voted.
I have great hopes for the future.

Now in an effort to catch up, I'd like to post a few snaps over the next few days. Summer has come to my part of the world like a switch has been turned on. We warmth-starved Canucks have gone a little mad. These are from my garden, and the surrounding area. Miss Pris has to come into it at some point, of course :) Also the Celebration of my Aunt's Life was held in a perfect summer day this June. She always took bad weather as a personal affront, so for her day to have had fair weather was wonderful. The box held her favourite sweets: Licorice Allsorts.

A couple of times a year, I try to get up to Ottawa to visit my Mum, sister and nieces. Sister lives right on the Ottawa river, and has all the toys to go out on the water. I prefer to stay on land, but just to sit by a large body of water always has its appeal for me.

My Mum's pup Lexi is the cutest little thing, but is proving to be a handful. At 86, I think my Mum forgot what a challenge it can be to train a young dog, but so far she's managing.

Leaving Lexi at home, I took my Mum on a jaunt to a nearby town called Almonte. It has a wonderful main street full of interesting shops and cafes. It's so nice to see old buildings being re-purposed but their charm intact :)

I love the droplets, and number 9 is a great shot (you must have got up close and personal with those cobbles Hahhah)
Numbers 8 and 10 particularly interest me, as I can just see the lodge that I could have drowned in back when I was a lass! I don't recall the ruined building though, as I rarely ventured beyond Nelson's farm, now a riding school I believe.

It rained earlier in the day so it was a droplet frenzy, there are more pictures on FB which may give a detailed overview of the lodge. The old barn possibly had a roof on in your time, there as there is evidence of a fire on the door lintel, so this I guess brought the roof down, and this became the start of the deterioration, there was another farm house and shippon attached just a field away which this year became subject to restoration, it now has a bright red roof on.

During my stay at whats getting to be my second home in South Lincolnshire we took a trip the ten miles to Burghley House.

1. The deer by the road in.
2. Side view of the house.
3. Chimneys.
4. Courtyard
5. Banners in the entrance.
Then we went into the water garden,
6. You get a few seconds to get through before it squirts up again.
7. Child water play ground, by permission of his parents who have got a few more similar I posted to them.
8. The brill.
9. Garden with busts.
10. Nice path.

I`ve only seen a couple this year and only from a distance, both times were on the canal.

You are talking to someone who went away for a week and forgot to take the charging cables.....even though I thought I had checked everything.
Love number one by the way.

For Davemac: I love number 10. The guys in number 7 remind me of a phenomenon I see daily in my local Tim Hortons: groups of men if a certain age gathering together for a good old gossip! I call it 'geezer's corner' - a chance to get away from the women-folk is how it appears to me :)

Number 10 is one of those wet moments, for my boots at least, the group you see are stood there on a regular basis they walk the Coppice daily and always stop at that point for a "fag" they were that engrossed in conversation they didn't become aware of me until I had passed them. It might not be a chance to get away from the women folk, more they are sent out to play whilst the women get their jobs done.
