Apparently he left two.
The lady had a net over the pond but his beak was long enough to drag the fish through.

I was a bit slow with the camera when he took off, just got his back end and legs.

I also saw a deer with a white rump, no idea of species, it was in the field between me and Rothwell House, it didn't bolt away just strolled passed me so it must be used to people being about.

This made her very grumpy and glum.....so I promised her fish and chips for her dinner.
I walked to Church St Chippy and passed the church.
I couldn't stop to take pictures then(no one likes cold fish and chips)......but I stopped and spent time taking pics before I got the bus back home.

Evenin' all, The Witch, Bitch & Moi are visiting the M.i.L again, whiling away Easter & beyond down here in the deep South. Todays jollies were kept to a minimum what with it being our first day & all that.

Bad Füssing a popular "Kur orte" (health resort/Spa) so, full of fattties & the rich with fake suntans so not a lot to see - Then it was over the Border into Austria for a bit of a mooch, a little place called "Brunau am Inn" which to you historical scholars out there should ring some bells. despite it being Good Friday it was just a normal working day today for the Austrians according to the locals. - Witchy & Bitchy alongside a feeder stream for the river Inn - Living along the old City walls - Looking back to Simlach am Inn Germany - The Easter Bunnies of Brunau (but not the towns most infamous export) - Building decoration, very popular in the Germanic regions - The rebuilt, old city "Stadttorturm" city gate tower - For those of you struggling, the answer to who Austrias most infamous export was, it's "Uncle Adolph", Brunau was where he was born. ;)

Today was a walk around Rothwell Heights, its over 12 months since my last walk around here. They (don't know who) have put footpaths around the area, and seating, and made a section into a Forest School, and I see they organise dry stone walling lessons. The paths now link up with the paths around priestly Clough and then onto Woodnook Vale and have opened up the area massively, it also offers a view over the town and over to Pendle.

Last night we had another unpleasant ice storm. It reminded me of one we had two years ago, but thankfully the damage wasn't as severe where I live, but others weren't so fortunate. Over 100,000 people were without power for some time. This morning I unloaded a kiln load of honey pots that I'd made for a local bee keeper and maple syrup producer. The ride to deliver them was enjoyable, as the ice can look quite pretty. Glad it's melting now, though :)

Re: Today in pictures

I love the pictures..but not the snow...your honey pots look beautiful.

Turtle 25-03-2016 21:45

Re: Today in pictures

Thank you Margaret. It was more ice than snow, so it made for quite a job chipping it off the car. As for the honey pots, I had made 26, but only 19 made it for delivery. I had two kiln failures at the local guild this week - first one kiln, and then the other that I had re-loaded my work into - stopped in the middle of the glaze firing! It's a wonder anything made it out in time for delivery. As we potters say, the kiln gods weren't smiling, but I did ok in spite of it all. The remainders can be refired, and delivered at a later date.

I kid you not, that's the name of the village, generations of UK & US servicemen (& Women)have grinningly posed under this village sign & in some cases tried to nick it ....Shocking! :D - Pfronten nestling at the foot of the Alps - On top of the Tegelberg (where we wanted to go with the cable car) a casualty rescue was going on (so we couldn't) - A roundabout way back through the Mountains on the Austrian side the "Plansee" sits in the valley surrounded by great big rocks - Ettal, Kloster Ettal - Inside the chapel (x3) Organ pipes, ceiling artwork, wall paintings - Ettal main street.

Today I took Spindles on a day out ...to Manchester...the Museum of Science and Industry.
When I asked him what kind of day he had....he said it was 'amazing'.
So have a look at some of these pictures.
1) Spindles...in a perspex structure on the walk to the museum.
2) Him again in from of a big plane.
3) A little Kamikaze plane.......you could nearly get that in your handbag.
4) a wheelchair motorbike....who knew one of those existed.
5) An experimental Jet
6) another airy fairy plane...come on....don't ask me technical stuff...I'm female!
7) A steam engine ...cut away to show its gizzards...the internal workings...pipes and things
8) The Muriel(yes I know it is a mural) on the outside of the museum.
9) The footplate of a big black steam engine.
10) this is the big black steam engine that the footplate belongs to

4) A modern kitchen
5) an even more modern kitchen...look they have a dishwasher
6) We used to have a telly like that...by the time it warmed up the progam was over. (this room had not seen a yellow duster or Mr Sheen for a long time...it was proper mucky)
7) First class carriage.

We walked 10km yesterday and Spindles fell asleep on the bus back home...he said I had walked his legs off.

A walk around Castle Clough, a touch early for any Spring flowers, but moist moments in abundance.

10cm:eek: You are lucky ... we got only five.;) Your iPad must be one of those cheap Australian knock-offs.:D

Got another few cm today, but it won't last long. As for my iPad, it's the real article, but for some reason photos flip upside like that when uploading to Accyweb. This time I thought I would be smart, and edited the photo to be upside down before uploading it, but to no avail

That just goes to prove that technology confounds common sense.

Is your Ipad upside down when taking the photos, home button needs to be on the right for landscape.

A walk around the Coppice, I hadn't been up for a few weeks, The browns are giving way to the light green of Spring.

Not from today...but from another jaunt to Manchester with the lad yesterday.
Again, I think this will appeal more to the lads.
1) Scrambler Bikes.
2) I think this was a speedway bike.
3) Hang glider
4) an antique vehicle.
5) The picture cascade in the foyer of MOSI
6) A better pic of the Muriel(mural)
7 Mr John Rylands...him of the library fame
8) Mrs John Rylands...also of library fame
9) Fearsome Dragon carved into the stone.
10) not sure if this is a bird or a bat

I love the carvings (it's an owl, I think). Interesting to think that in days gone by, people were employed to embellish buildings in that way - so beautiful and lasting.

aah yes...so it is. I can see it is now, but when I first looked at it I could not tell what it was.

Spindles wasn't keen to go into the John Rylands Library. he thought it would be dull and boring, but he loved it.
There was a Shakespeare Trail for the children and he hunted out the clues and got a certificate. He also got a brochure on Witches in the Middle Ages. He was enthralled by this.
We both had a very enjoyable day.

This morning hubby and I decided to try for a walk on the Fairgrounds track as we have done so many times before. The sunshine promised warmer temps., but lied - there was a bitingly cold wind. Tears streaming down our cheeks, we made a hasty retreat to the car.
1. Miss P wisely decided to stay warm in her new favourite spot.
2. Footprints: those little pawprints must be from a raccoon.
3. Frozen puddle.
4. Twin trees - no leaves in sight yet. The robins are shivering!
5. My favourite old trees in this park - on the way back to the car.

Turtle beat me to it, most definitely an Owl, I'd assume it's symbolic in so much as the Owl is associated with the Goddess(of wisdom)Athena in Greek mythology & as it's at a place of learning .... :)

It is so obvious now..... I can't believe I didn't get it before.....and of course owls are symbolic of learning and wisdom.

Testing out gPick's advice on uploading photos from my iPad - if it still comes out upside down, I give up

Spring might actually be here in my part of the world: minus 10 at nights all week with a bout of ice pellets and snow. Then, like a switch turned on, we have abundant sunshine for the next three days with temps. approaching 20 degrees (eventually, on Sunday). We're all going slightly mad with delight. The robins are able to peck at the ground for food, and be still my heart, I swear I saw a turtle sunning itself on the far bank of the pond. Well, maybe :)
