Yesterday afternoon I took myself off down Rishton Bottoms.
I wanted to see if I could spot the Kingfishers.....well yes I could, but they were far to fast for me to capture.

The only thing I managed to capture were some bovines.
These were not the fighting commando bovines...they were just cowardly cows.
As I got closer, they ran away.....mooing 'no publicity...no pictures'.

I didn't see anything much worth snapping......I got muddy and wet,(though not Davemac wet)trod in a pasture pie that was hiding and these are all I have to show for it.

That`s the trouble with wildlife, very uncooperative, but at least you got a glimpse. There have been many times I`ve been down there and seen nothing (still a lovely walk though), but when you do, it`s well worth it.

Also a one from our condo's meet your neighbours BBQ (good lads these - they helped by setting up, flipping burgers and putting stuff and burgers away. I was amused by their choice of T-shirts!) and a few more from the Limehouse Trail.

Love those t-shirts! Great colour the autumn Acer leaves - my husband is a fan of Canadian Holstein breeding - says his heart is in the shape of an Acer leaf (like the Canadian flag!) :D

On a nice day like today we let Max choose were to go. We wrote three different walks on three pieces of paper and asked him to bring one. He chose Longridge Fell with lunch at the Eagle and Child Hurst Green

Amazingling clear weather - great views!

Shepherds delight!

They have come down from the summer mountain pastures and are now grazing the harvested maize fields. Spotted them behind our farm this evening (photo 7 shows our farm looking back from where the sheep were grazing).

One more shot of the moon on a reasonably clear night.

Woken up this morning to the sound of a passing aircraft, seeing as the camera was still handy I took this photo.
I have no idea where he was going he sounded to be hanging about a while.

Yes, I got quite a few glimpses.
I found it very frustrating. There I was with my camera trained on a spot and the blooming thing winged in and out before I could press the shutter.
I think my reflexes are slowing down.....but it is bad when you can only be quick enough to snap bovines:).

I think I will be going down there again, but in wellies......so that I can wash the cow clap off them easily.......my trainers needed a good going over with an old toothbrush to get the manure out of the soles.

There's a chap from burnley gone missing, last seen around Ossy, perhaps they were looking for him.

Thank gpick, thats probably what they were doing up there.
The helicopter would be probably over Queens road area when I took the photo from my bedroom but he started to circle toward Ossy and I lost him behind the house, I was in my night attire so didn't go to the front to get another shot. My night attire, by the way, is what I was wearing when I was born.

Yesterday in Pictures........ today, a walk in the sun around the Coppice.

1. A path I have walked through many seasons.
2. One of the new paths installed this year, they look like they have been there for some time now.
3. There is still a lot of green in the trees, so where is all this brown stuff coming from.
4. A controversial location in the past, not so much nowadays, Spire Farm.
5. Number three of the four lodges, counting from the top.
6. Still number three, just a bit to the left.
7. A plant of the Summer, with the power of tomorrow in the distance.
8.Now the opposite side of the area, Pendle Hill as you look over Huncoat.
9. The Heather whilst not in full flush any more is still trying to belt out a few flowers.

You will notice that there are only 9 pictures here, I have separated one out from the group as it is too horrific to include in this post, just in case there are children looking in I will post it on its own, and the Mods can delete it should it it prove too much for people of delicate sensibilities. Right, now that you have been warned I will go and post it.

I colourized the picture in Photoscape, I was only musing recently that it doesn't seem two minutes since Spring was here and yourself and Eric were posting photos with massive amounts of snow in them, and here we are again, just around the corner from frosty weather.

The colourizing suits the subject really well :)
Yes, winter isn't far of for us over here in Canuck land. They're predicting another hard winter (yeesh!). This morning my outdoor thermometer read zero. It warmed up to about 12, but with a stiff wind and dramatic cloud formations - hence my choice for Photo Comp. Theme.

It isn`t so much the dark evenings Eric, more the lack of photographic opportunities, by the time I get home and had some tea the sun is well on its way to Oz.

Thanks, It was a wet bit that I stumbled across recently and at the time said I would return for a better mooch, unfortunately there is no path that goes all the way round, however the bits that were accessible, were very reflective despite the rain.

That's the one, I stumbled across it by accident when walking through the dunkenhalgh estate, the woods behind the old factory are called Mill Woods and I didn't realise it was the same reservoir you can see from the road, so a second mooch was required. Its on the list of "snowy scenes" to photograph if and when it arrives.

Today in Pictures, a while since my last visit, Haworth Park.

1. Its always good to start off with a bit of innuendo, so here's my conkers.
2. The gallery tends to get into most photos.
3. Looking over the colourful Autumnal scene, Moleside in the distance and the Coppice out of view on the left.
4. The gallery dominated with an out of place eucalyptus tree.
5. Its lucky I was carrying some decorators stilts for this shot.
6. The gallery is often snapped from this location.
7. As the Summer becomes a memory the roses throw up the last few blooms.
8. It gets easier with time.
9. Behind those trees used to be Hilltop Home for the Elderly, now as flat as a Fluke.
10. You don't realise how difficult it is climbing a drainpipe holding a camera until you give it a go.

Didn`t get any pics yesterday, so had a play with the foggy pic from earlier in the week, spot the difference.

Its difficult to do a side by side comparison when they are pages apart, perhaps if you could re-post them next to one another, that way we would be able to see any difference.

OK, here you go, too easy though when they are side by side so i`ll put another in the middle to try and put you off, don`t go from pic 3 to pic 1 though.

I must admit they looked buffed up, but they are just as they fell off the tree.

Wayoh res is a favourie walk of ours and the railway viaduct from that angle is one of my favourite pics. I have photographed that at various time of the year and everytime it is different.

These are from last Sunday's walk - my feet haven't touched the ground all week with one thing and another! I did a new country circuit and coming to the church in Castelnuovo del Zappa I saw it was open and there were more people about than I've ever seen before. They were waiting for a concert to start to inaugurate the new roof repairs (note copper finishing on the front surrounds - I wonder how long it will last!). I had a sneak preview of the final rehearsal. the choir were students from the music conservatory in Cremona which is part of the University of Milan. Shame you can't hear the singing - they were excellent.

One or two people can be seen in the distance, but for most of it I managed to chase everyone away brandishing a stick.

Great shots - number 2 and 4 stand out for me, as well as the birds. What's the story behind the fairy grotto?

Thanks, no idea of the story, they were at the base of a tree and thought i`d take the pic. The Cormorant pics were a bit of a surprise as i`d forgotten to turn image stabalisation back on after using the tripod and they turned out sharper than i expected so i`ve been having a bit of an experiment today.

2 & 3. ...and having a spot of lunch.
4. Watching me watching you.
5 & 6. Hoping for Kingfishers but none turned up so may as well take a pic of something.
