Hey C'mon..explain this cut and paste...
BBC News - EU Referendum Bill: Peers delay legislation Your guys have delayed this bill just enough that it probably won't become law, so that they can ignore it on a technicality if they get in power. Really hope that you and your party are proud of stopping the will of the people. Vote Labour..Vote Europe! To paraphrase the great labour politician Kenneth Moss of Rishton Towers..us nuggets really shouldn't 'purport to know far more about things than your average man on the street, because we don't know what is really going on, because we just read stuff' I despise conservative values..but current labour values typified by the Mossian edict above, remind me of Animal Farm.. 'all animals are equal except the pigs who are wiser' Strange how Orwell depicted his version of politicians pretending to work for the people as trough eating pigs. |

Re: The Tories
there are a few things stopping me voting Conservative, and a few things stopping me voting Labour.
Again, a few things that encourage me to vote Conservative, and a few encourage me to vote Labour. My biggest problem with the Conservative party is its failure to offer aspiration, this is what I thought they stood for? My biggest problem with Labour is Ed Balls and the other hangers on from the wreckage of the last government, I dont want to see any of them return to a position of power. I cant help summarise after speaking to others, that if Labour would have had a clean sweep at the top of the party of the rubbish ministers from the last government, they would be in a far stronger position. I simply dont trust this current Labour leadership nor the direction of the party. Its fake, its stinks of desperation to get elected, and they are willing and are saying anything to get elected. And while I may not like some of Cameron/Osborne policies and decisions, at least you know what you get with them. And on the economy, deficit and welfare spending they have generally got it right with some exceptions. As for the Lib Dem's, I will never vote for them. I dont know who I will vote for 2015. |

Re: The Tories
The question is...Where do you place your trust when those you have trusted in the past have proved to be unworthy of that trust?
When those you have trusted have not lived up to their promises, either at local or national level? Come the election, I will trundle down to the polling station and will either tick all of the boxes or write on my ballot paper 'none of the above'. I will go to the polling station so that I am not considered one of those too apathetic to stir my stumps to go and vote......one of those 'lazy people'. I cannot align myself to any of the current political parties. I trust none of them because my trust has been squandered so many times. I feel I have been duped by false promises. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me! There is no such thing as democratic process - change through the ballot box is just an illusion. A sop to common people to let them think they have a say in how the country is governed. |

Re: The Tories
Neil I have done that too in the past......It makes absolutely no difference to the three main parties..those that have a chance to get elected.
Look at our own illustrious MP. He thinks that 95% of us care little about whether we are in the EU or not. But although he thinks that, he voted against us having the option to declare our feelings on the issue. The three main parties treat the electorate with complete and total contempt. That is why I feel that democracy no longer works. When there are protests the like of which are occurring in the Ukraine right now, there may be a chance that the politicians might get the message, though I doubt it. They would probably just bring in the army with water cannons and rubber bullets. |

Much has been made of the flawed statistics in the crime figures and those in the NHS too. When will people realise that politicians(all of them of every party) tell us what they want us to know. They treat us like primary school children...they fear that we are not able to process the real information......and I have said it time and again, statistics mean nothing. |

I've been viewing this thread for a while,I've always resisted the temptation to comment (till now) :D.
'Figures' show unemployment down to 7%,what a load of BS (give yourselves a pat on the back tho Tories). I don't know what country their living in but it can't be Britain. There's never been some many folk in PT work, in jobs that don't pay anything, working for these 'Agencies'. You might have a full week one week and the next 1 maybe 2 days (hardly full-time employment). In 2013 the Tories said something along the lines of anyone working for a Agency now will be on the same rate of pay as the normal worker working for that company, all the same benefits, holidays. What a load of tosh that was ;). These Agencies make you self employed,So you go through a umbrella company, they pay your tax, insurance so you don't have to have the same rate of pay as the normal worker working for that company. You don't get the benefits, you certainly don't get the holidays (that's how they got around that). If you hadn't guessed yet,I think Tories are full of it (Just like the Rest). Which way to the heritage-history section :D |

There has been a huge groundswell of opinion against the membership of the EU.....we have been promised many times that we will be able to have a say in our destiny....but yet again our dreams of this are dashed by the infighting in the three main parties...there are other major issues too where the electorate has been largely ignored.. Politicians aren't in politics to make our lives better....they are in it to make their lives better...to make contacts, to dip their bread in the gravy train at our expense. |

You blame the people. I blame the system. You only have to look at the current government..a coalition..the libdems have an ideal position to effect real change with their casting vote..instead they sold their souls for cabinet seats, reneging on numerous manifesto pledges and actively voting the opposite to what they told their grass root voters before the election, selling them down the river for the proverbial mess of potage. Think about it..liberal values agreeing with conservative values is an anathema to both, hell the words 'liberal' and 'conservative' are damn near antonyms... yet they go to bed with each other..not for the good of the people..but for the individual power, kudos and company directorships once they leave their political lives! In this country you cannot form a government unless a political party has a majority, and oddly enough they can manage this with a minority of the vote..the people say no, the system says yes.... You are soooo.. wrong my friend...people are not stupid, they can see the wood despite the trees, they are just flailing around on social media like this forum, howling at the moon because it makes them feel better, but knowing full well that tomorrow will just bring more of the same. We are supposed to have a parliamentary democracy, where the people really matter and have a voice...I'd argue that we have a feudalistic government, where the nobility (rich or 'in the know') govern for themselves and to hell with everyone else (serfs)...mother of all parliaments my backside! We have a 12th century system in 21st century Britain |

Re: The Tories
If you look at our MP's Twitter bio....'whip since 2010'.....worn like a badge of honour.
What a whip actually does is enforce other MP's to vote the way the party wants..OR ELSE!!!! Or else..you won't progress, no cabinet positions, be sent to coventry, won't get selected at the next election, or other career smashing threats. For four years, Graham Jones has been coercing freely elected representatives to vote the way Ed Milliband wants them to and this is all perfectly legal under our parliamentary system. In fact he and other whips (of all parties) actively boast about how few rebel votes slip through their spider like mandibles. Now if you told your colleagues/employees 'vote monster raving loony party or I'll destroy your career..you'd be arrested. The system actively encourages vote fixing, this is not democracy its feudalism, and it's one of the myriad reasons why 60-80% of people at every single ballot box do not give them a mandate to govern. The people speak at every election by refusing to vote on an undemocratic outcome, the system ignores them. |
Re: The Tories
Hooray, Hooray.......someone who can actually see this is not a democracy...that the people have no power to influence anything....that the government do not have a mandate because a lot of those who have a vote do not feel confident enough to use it(for whatever reason).
Many years ago I voted, but always felt that I really did not understand the process.....that politics was full of stuff that I didn't understand. Then I must have grown up or something because I did understand that politics wasn't boring...that it touched every part of my life. I voted with confidence for the party which was closest to my own core values. Alas, despite politicians telling me what they believed in before they were elected, it seemed to change radically once they were in power. Power is like that......it makes people lie...say things to the electorate that they do not mean, that they have absolutely no intention of following through on. I was duped.....more than once. I was disappointed - more than once. I became suspicious and cynical - and I suspect that many people felt the same. I am not the kind of person who will follow a party political dogma come hell or high water. I wasn't brought up in a household that voted for one particular party and followed it doggedly, unwilling to listen to what other parties had to say. I think about things. I mull over the messages that the parties send out. The biggest message that is being sent out right now by all the parties is 'I'm alright Jack - bu88er you'. It doesn't fill me with any kind of confidence. |

All these people can second guess all they like about what certain politicians will do.
The parties all know that those who are of pension age are the ones who put the cross in the box.....where other sections of society don't bother. I will worry about what is going to be withdrawn when we have confirmed proof of it. I get a bit fed up of people thinking that anyone is giving the pensioners something for nothing. I pay for my bus pass with my taxes.....and my winter heating allowance. I get nothing else from the government. What is more if all the pensioners were paid enough to live on then we could pay our own bus fares. The pension isn't a benefit, I paid my contributions all my working life....I paid taxes all my working life....I still pay tax on my pension.....and if I relied on state pension alone I would have starved to death long before now. I am just glad I had the presence of mind to make other arrangements for my latter years. |

Well then why do folks keep bringing up the possibility that these payments will be removed?
It is discussed like it is a foregone conclusion, ah, but then we all know that if a politicians lips are moving he must be lying...so the fact that someone has said 'not at the moment' gives me no great comfort. It costs less to give us the passes and the heating allowance than it does to give pensioners a pension that they can live off. Britains pensions are the poorest in Europe. If you really do feel that you will have no pension by the time you retire then it is up to you to do something about that. I cannot see how they can do away with an entitlement that you have paid for. |

Re: The Tories
The frightening thought is( Margaret will blow a blood vessel at this ) there is no money in the OAP bank, there never was. Our NI, our taxes, were never our savings for our pensions, they paid for the pensions of those already retired and went in the general spending pot. Our pensions are paid for by those still working and those who have enough pension to still pay tax.
So the politicians can(and probably will) say in the future-' There's not enough going into the current account to pay out what you're trying to draw.Tough'. Cameron said pensions, winter payments, bus passes were ring fenced. Yes but that was 'yesterday'. As Scarlett said 'Tomorrow is another day'. And politicians have short, selective memories. |

Re: The Tories
Well, however you look at it, there is enough to pay huge sums to despots in foreign countries, there is enough to pay into the corrupt EU, there is enough to give hand outs to India and China, both of whom have burgeoning economies....and space programs.
Priorities need to be got in the right order. If the tax loopholes were closed, and there was as much diligence tracking down the fat cats to pay their share, then the country would be able to afford to allocate pensions that ensure the pensioner does not need the heating allowance and the bus pass. I have always preferred to pay my own way anyway......the bus pass ensures that those on limited incomes are not socially isolated(which is a health risk) and it benefits the economy of the places they visit. I am sure that I heard on the news today that those who, received PPI payments have done more to help the economy because they have spent this money(which they see as a windfall) on goods and services. More money in the system means more money spent, giving the economy a boost. |

It`s a common misconception that that road tax (no such thing anymore) pays for the upkeep of roads, it doesn`t, the money from the vehicle exise duty/car tax goes to the treasury and the money can be used wherever is seen fit. Re: The Tories
We don't know if it is interesting or not...neither do we know if it represents true facts...and neither do you.
I would bet my hide that you haven't read many(if any) of those links you have put up. You do this again and again to confound the issues. This is not intelligent posting, it is not even remotely interesting posting. If I were the owner of this site I would bill you for the server space you have so thoughtlessly used! |
Re: The Tories
I am tempted to break forum rules and call you an ar$e...but an ar$e has some usefulness.
So you don't even meet those criteria. |
Re: The Tories
Stupid is as Stupid does.:rolleyes:Anyone wi a grain of sense,is well aware figures can be provided to consolidate any point of view, so those who set great store by em need to "Get A Life"!!
|
Re: The Tories
Cashy, as always you are right. You can't put sense where there isn't any.
C'mon doesn't see that these posts take everything away from any post he makes that has even the merest of interest in it. |
Re: The Tories
Well have told him n told him to no avail, in general people DO NOT read whatever he posts, n hes doin the party he reckons to support, more harm than good, (I am coming to the conclusion, no-one can be that stupid?) so am coming to conclusion he may be a closet Tory.

Re: The Tories
You really don't get it. And I didn't call you an ass...an Ass is a donkey.....I called you something else.
You do not balance your arguments, because you are not able to balance your arguments...you do not discuss.....you rely on cut and paste. The cut and paste you rely on often give a totally different picture to the one you would want us to believe. Mainly because you want to grab attention by using sensationalist headlines, which mean nothing. All this crap you have posted is supposed to prove what exactly? We will never know because you do not tell us what your own opinion is...and when you do tell us it is in such an unreadable form that it is worthless anyway. |
