2. Jen posted this one first, but I got the icicles.
3. Heading upward.
4. These structures pepper the landscape around here.
5. Almost at the top, check the slope, it put my lamps out.
6. Even up here dry stone walling dominates the area.

Today in Pictures, Pike Law Quarry, not much to see in the quarry, but the views are interesting.

1. Those turbines are all over the place.
2. Same view, just a bit further around.
3. I never expected to be behind the old hospital.
4. It looks a bit like the workhouse.
5. Interesting domes.
6. I think thats Helmshore in the distance.
7. I did think of having a shufty around the grounds, until I spotted a security guard with a slavering Alsatian.
8. Heading back, this is a bit of the exposed quarry face.
9. There is a chuff chuff in the distance blowing its whistle.
10. The only bit of colour I could find, apart from the bits of white snow around.

Horncliffe it is then, I was in an area I knew very little of, I was in the area as "Dad's" taxi was used, so took the opportunity to do a bit of mooching. I was surprised to find myself walking along the rear of the disused hospital though, mentally I was miles away from it.

Today in Pictures, another trip to see Geoffrey.

1. A bad case of the droplets.
2. Red sphagnum Moss, not very common, has anyone else seen it?
3. Here we go, yomping to see Geoffrey.
4. Looking back to see if we were followed, can't be sure.
5. Found the trig point, I wasn't looking for it, some interesting things in the distance, to the left Rishton Res. almost in the centre and reflecting the sun, Dean Clough Res. The tower is the peak of Pendleton Moor. Almost at Geoffrey's
6. Here we are Geoffrey's place.
7. So here we go, heading back.
8. I have to get the dog over there, I struggle getting over myself, I get a nose bleed due to the height.
9. The trig point, looking in the opposite direction.
10. I would like to say I am almost back, I have however found myself at an Australian sheep station with Ayres Rock in the distance.

I don't like to do the same walk, in the same week so it gets me out and about. I have to say I don't know many walks in Hassy, and only get to the area when "dads taxi" is required. The time before I visited the Halo, but this was one of my projects to visit all the panopticons, one to go, corporation park gun placements. I was thinking of mooching around the hospital grounds, looked over the wall and there was a security guard connected to an Alsatian, all snot and gnashers, so I thought I would leave it.

Nice to see a different perspective, you will have to return when there is more water coming down off the moors around the turbines, it can get very noisy with water. Where is Cobb's Lane, never been that way.

Was a lovely place to work Dave -you were very lucky! :)

Not sure about the new bandstand - compare to the 2 photos I've attached -one is a colour postcard of the bandstand as it was in about 1904 and the other shows people at a concert there -Kingston Mill band, June 24th 1899!

Yeah I think it depends on what they are doing, this is in play mode

definitely , collies know how to play. Just mention the word to Max and he empties his toy box. They also have to have a lot of mental stimulation

Not sure about the new bandstand - compare to the 2 photos I've attached -one is a colour postcard of the bandstand as it was in about 1904 and the other shows people at a concert there -Kingston Mill band, June 24th 1899!

I was told the original bandstand originally stood adjacent to the town hall and was moved to the park. The replacement is in the same style as the old one. When the mansion was occupied by the office staff, the superintendent, and the workforce, we referred to the rooms by the names they were given when it was a museum previously. An example was we used to store stuff such as cold frames in the "butterfly Room". The section that was demolished housed the workforce and mechanics shop.

hi all, ok there was a outdoor performance art on tonight over at salford quays, it involved people jogging round with led light suits on, so me and a few camers friends went along, i didn't take the tripod as i wanted manoeuvrability, wish i had have done now, cos i missed some good shots, i did have one of those little benndy tripods that wrap round stuff, but wasnt the same.

anyway thought i had better get out whilst i can as some of you may read about my new venture, playing out time maybe a little restricted for the forceable.
anyway here are some of the shots, just a quick edit, so here goes

Today in Pictures, now that Spring is here.

1. You can tell Spring is here, the snow is getting warmer, or is it just hypothermia setting in.
2. This scene made me want to get my baubles out, so I did,............. nutmegs.
3. I am not going any further, it's proper parky.
4. Have you been eating snow again.
5. Apart from white and green, this was the only other colour I could find, apart from a bit of blue.
6. At this point I questioned my sanity about being here, beside that my Tutu was collecting a bit of snow, and the gusset on my onesie was around my knees

He was far happier than me, he runs around in the snow, one downside, he collects snowballs in his fur that have to be removed before he goes in, otherwise they thaw out slowly and leave puddles everywhere

A man outstanding in his field, shivering, cold, and wet through, but relentlessly standing out in a field.

I only wear it outside, if I wore it inside I would get laughed at.

To get the true feeling of this picture you should look at it while naked, in front of an open fridge door, with a fan on, and the wife throwing hundreds and thousands in your face. Let me know how you get on.
